Auto Window Clear and Reset.
Hi,
I know how to reset the auto windows, but I need to clear the memory. I’ve tried connecting the battery terminals for 2 hours and that didn’t clear the seats or the windows.
Here’s the problem. I programmed the windows after I changed a motor and they worked great for about three months.
Now when the auto up on the driver window gets to the very top, it thinks it’s hit something and reverses.
Id like to reprogram it, but each time I’ve programmed it there was no change. I think the door ecu sees the set point as the same and therefore does not reset the set point. I want to clear that set point and start from scratch.
my proceeded for setting is with the window in the middle somewhere hold down the window switch for a few seconds after it gets to the bottom. Then all the way up holding down for a few seconds after it’s all the way up. I’ve done this 20 times using the auto and manual part of the switches. Nothing.
I hope I’m missing something. Thanks!

I have the same problem ever since a shop replaced the glass in one of my doors. I haven't fixed it yet, but that appears to be the necessary procedure.

I guess in your case it might be something else causing the issue, since you've already calibrated it once. Unless it somehow came off timing? I don't even know how that would be possible.
But I've tried resetting the limit using just the programming sequence and didn't work, and mine is a confirmed case of the motor and assembly being out of sync.

I had to deal with this a few years ago. I tried everything, and ultimately got it solved by loosening up the bolts holding the window regulator and motor and then while they were as loose as possible I shook the window and reached in the door and shook the bottom rail and then tightened the bolts up a little at a time. And everything has worked fine since. It figured I must have tightened things incorrectly the first time, and it caused the regulator to bind up. This regulator doesn’t offer much room for error, I am sure there is a specific pattern to follow but I didn’t have a manual to follow, maybe if someone finds the recommended installation instructions, they could post them?
Thanks. I’ve ordered an eBay motor to plug in. I’ll look for loose bolts while I’m in there. It’s certainly possible. Oddly, it worked before without the lower window track. Picky.
