Default Driver Door window tricky

Hello, I'm facing a problem in my 1998 LS400.

The driver door window is acting funny, see below:

A- When opening it works great, on auto and manual.

B- when closing while holding the close switch it closes no problem.

Now see this;

C- When closing with auto, the window would go up till about 75% and then by itself it would open back till 50% to close it I always have to keep my finger on the close switch.

What I did try:

A- Tried a different Master switch, still same problem, so thought it is the window motor.
B- Tried a working window motor today, and STILL the same problem !!

what is causing this problem? I hope its not 89222-50010 (COMPUTER, MULTIPLEX NETWORK )

I tried searching CL today and found something about window programming;
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...reprogram.html

but no solution is there.

You expert help is needed guys.

Thanks for reading

try this again.. disconnect battery for few minutes and replug back in, starting from window all the way up, roll the windows down all the way (without using AUTO function), then roll windows all the way up.

Hi, I just rolled up the driver window, then disconnect the battery for about 15 mins (both terminals) then connected them back and did the roll down then roll up (no auto) and the result is:

driver window now will go down full with auto or manual

will go up full in manual as before.

in going up with Auto it is doing different thing now when I close it with auto from full down it goes up to about 50% then go down by itself till 25%. so the problem is still there but with different pattern. to close the window I have to keep my finger on the switch till its fully closed.

should I try different thing?

here is a WILD guess... if you have a friend with a 98-2000 ls, ask him/them if you can borrow their master switch to see if yours needs replacing. remove yours, plug in theirs and see if theirs works properly. if so run to the nearest salvage yard and get one... if it operates the same, check this operation. BE120 or BE126.

Thank you for the details and attachments, it seems a bit too much for me if I have to follow the links steps, it requires dismantling the motor and counting the revolutions, but it seems this is what have to be done.

I called an expert in all lexus programming issues today and he said that the problem is known to him and will do it for me (dunno for how much) but it seems he'll do as per the instruction you provided cause he said it'll take at least an hour to complete !

hope it goes well, will post the results.

update: just came back from the electrician shop, spent an hour there, he opened the motor and tried several things without success. then he said it could be the window guides which is obstructing the movement.

I told him that the location of the hold changes every time which proves that it is not related to guides, he disconnected the battery for few minutes then connected again, the location were the glass stopped changed. So now he's partially convinced that it's not the guides. But on the other hand told me that this will take much longer than an hour, so I had to leave the car with him, he said he'll try several things and let me know.

I hope all goes well.

OK, took the car back, working fine now, he did 2 things:

1- replaced a switch (could be the JAM PROTECTION LIMIT SWITCH) i think its part of the window motor assembly cause I couldn't find this parts separately from the parts catalog I have. he got a working used one.

2- opened and cleaned both driver door window guides.

total cost was $50

good news, sounds like you found a friend AND I just found this:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ogramming.html

plus this: ADJUSTMENTS

Jam Function Reset

1. Remove door pannel. reconect window switch. Turn Ignition on. Using windows switch manual UP mode, close window full. Using a wire .079" (2 mm) in diameter with a flat end, press reset switch on power window motor
2. using windows switch manual DOWN mode, open window fully. remove wire from reset switch. using window switch manual UP mode, close window fully. Verify proper window operation using window switch Auto function

Power window Motor Limit Switch

with window motor remove from regulator assembly, connect motor to vehicle harness. rotate motor 6- 10 turns or 4- 5 sec. in upward window direction. The set limit switch to OFF postion (TDC of window glass)

amazing looking up: lexus JAM PROTECTION LIMIT SWITCH
