Red Flashing Check Engine Light (P0301?)
Started it up last month, so far so good, but gave it a quick drive around the block and the red flashing check engine light came on.
There was a loud thump every now and then as I drove, and the smell of gas or fuel or something was in the air, so I parked the car and shut it off.
Been about a month since then, bought and OBD reader and hooked it up today. No red engine light came up but the yellow engine light did (don't remember if it was flashing). Code reader read P0130 - Cylinder 1 Misfire. Didn't drive the car around this time.
Any tips on how I should proceed?
Flushed all the oil and coolant today and refilled.
If it tracks, replace the coil. If it stays in place, replace plug. If it goes away, suspect a bad connection stray occurrence from disuse, and drive carefully until you confirm all is well. You can do damage w/a misfire and dumping raw gas into the exhaust/cat.
So last month when I had the flashing red engine light, after I turned off the car, I heard what sounded like a running liquid inside the engine. Are there any fixes if raw gas gets into the exhaust/cat? I also had a code for the cat 02 sensor last year, but it didn't show up this time.
Car has problem starting too. Cranks but doesn't start from time to time.
Thanks a ton

Gas unburnt will then burn/ignite in the cat and damage the catalyst; so you don’t want to drive with a non-firing cylinder.
