Hello, I have a 98 GS400, and when I turn use the key manually in the driver door. It used to lock and unlock fine and that’s how I used it since my actuators were bad. Now that I replaced them and all has been good except I just tried to use the key manually and the key goes in but dosent do anything. It just turns left and right without any resistance or noise or any attempt to unlock the door. Anyone know what the problem is?

Something wasn't re connected. Do the doors unlock with the fob buttons?

 

yea. I changed the actuators like 2 months ago and the key lock worked fine. I think I used it.

 

Does the inside lock toggle work?

if it’s just the outside key the rod has come loose, possibly the plastic retainer is broken.

inside lock works. I’m not saying I did… but when I took off the handle… I may or may not have loosened the wrong screw… and broke something off on accident. May be that…

 

The key tumbler has a plastic retainer for the lock rod and that retainer may have broken. You could probably order just the retainer. You could probably redneck something up to.
