Default 03 GS430 Bad Transponder Key Coil?

Anyone ever experience this failure? What were the symptoms? Trying to figure out why my remote key fob only works within a foot of the front doors? Yep. I changed the battery. :-) Thanks.

Hey! I had something like that happen after I changed the bateries in my Key fobs. Actually I went to drive the car after the battery change the second day (right after the change it worked fine) and was unable to unlock it using they key fob at all, but able to unlock it using the key. The alarm went on and stayed on even when I started the car, which I assumed would make it stop. Then the alarm stopped only after I stepped out and was able to lock the car using the keyfob. Since then it started to work even from the normal long range. I feel like there might be some protection when you try to unlock the car outside range to many time or something like that, but I was not able to narrow it down since it works fine since the last few months.

Well, when I bopught the car, it had no keys with fobs. It just had the chip key. But I wanted the remote lock/unlock so I sent the ECU out to have new fob keys programmed. So with that said, I have no idea actually if it's the key fob being less powerful since it is almost certainly an aftermarket key, or if it is the coil/antenna. I would just like to press the button from 15 feet away and the door unlocks. Seems pretty simple huh? I just unfortunatly am not boned up on transponders yet.

Anyone have the correct P/N for the "Wireless Door Lock Control ECU"? The Electrical Wiring Diagram Manual says it 90980-11165. But that's not it. Thanks.

So I was chasing a problem with the locks not working unless I was right next to the front door.

I "assumed" that it had to do with the key coil on the ignition switch. But I was wrong as someone on the SC Forum was kind enough to educate me about how the SC's have their located in the rear view mirror.

Then I looked at a section of the Wiring Diagram Manual and realized there is a section on "Wireless Door Lock Controls" which somehow I had previously overlooked. Probably because I was focused on the key and the immobilizer circuit. But anyway, there is a module in either the passenger side of the trunk or the rear pillor of the car called the "Wireless Door Lock Control ECU" that is what receives the signal from the fob. Its inside on the Camery and I assume it is for the GS also. It has been discontinued by Lexus but is readily available on ebay. Ordered one for $20.36. I'll let everyone know if this fixes the problem. Thanks.

Did this fix your issue, and if so was it plug-n-play or did the module have to be programmed to the car?
