Default Cig outlet **FIXED**

ok some of us like me and mcnelson were having a problem with the front cigeratte outlet not working. well today i got out my tools did a little testing and fixed the problem.

1. Remove entire ashtray assembly by pulling straight out. the whole thing comes out.

2. look in the back of the assembly you will see a small cover that covers the back of the ciggerette outlet. it has a LH on it. remove the 1 phillip head screw that holds it in place.

3. You will see a small black wire that is about 1/2 inch long that is in a C shape that connects the connectors. eighther remove and replace that wire or add another wire to and from the exact location the black wire is running. its a VERY short small black wire. You will need a saudering iron for this step.

After that put everything back and you got yourself a working cig outlet. This only works if all your fuses are working and everything is working still.

I will give it a try next time that I am home from school. That so cool that you finally got it to work. I tried pulling mine out and I couldn't get it out, I pulled hard and it still didn't come out. I almost broke it. I don't know what to do???? Congrats on fixing it!!!!

My hand hurt for a few days after I pulled that thing off. It IS really had to pull out. It is held on by four little metal clips that are really tight because Mr. Lexus didn't want it to rattle. THat's my guess anyway.

Problem is, one of the clips fell down somewhere and now rattles so I have to take it apart again.

Anyway, great fix Jmai!

Sounds like you guys are breaking and fracturing your hand bone trying to remove it. its not that hard. just open the asktray so you have a place to grab onto and grab onto the 2 side of the asktry and pull straight out.

Just for info.. that wire you replaced is a fuse-link. It was burned out on my car when I bought it in January. I have replaced it with a copper wire. I hope that Lexus has fused this circuit somewhere else or we are gonna have a melt-down if we overload that lighter !!!!!!
