Default Wierd wire found?

This was clipped into green wire behind the gauge light dimming and brightening ***. Could this be my short?

That could definitely be your short!!! Looks like the T-tap was to small and cut through that green wire which left it exposed and it probably comes in connect with me and creates a short to ground!! Remove that T-tap and splice the 2 halves of the original wire together again and I am willing to bet that it will stop blowing that fuse.

Awesome. I'll find out tomorrow when I finish wiring the oe radio in. But would this also cause my alt to work. I took the alt in to autozone and they tested it as good but it's not sending juice to the battery

Looks like the green wire was the problem to me.

Yeah. The the T-tap split the green wire in half. That's been soldered and shrink wrapped back together

Decided to just finish it tonight. Got everything cleanly wired in. Put a new fuse in and connected the battery...everything came on as it should...for about a literal minute. Fuse blew again.

Is there an alarm on the car that's aftermarket? Why was that connector there anyway? Maybe there are other connectors there.

No aftermarket alarm (that I know of) there was an aftermarket radio and sound system but I removed them both and put a stock radio back in.

Tried...and failed. Still no power from alternator or gauge cluster

Remove the knee panel under the steering column and see if there are any more connectors like that one or exposed wires anywhere under there.

I was just reading about a similar problem on a Toyota (no alt power and gauges not working) I believe they came to a conclusion that it was the neutral start switch.

I'Lloyd check under the knee panel tomorrow but I'm bring close to just taking it in to a mechanic...
