vibrating/shaking of car
so i know theres a thread about this but i dont want to bump the old one, wondering if anyones has figured out why some of our cars shake/vibrate between 40-60mph?
i did my research and found out balancing of tires will cause this, alingment, and even wore out tie rod ends if anyone has the actual reason can someone please post because this is really annoying. thanks

The piston was stuck so that the caliper would not completely release when the brakes were not applied. If you see more brake dust on one of the front wheels, that's an indication that something is wrong. Also, if you drive the car in the rain and see a bunch of steam when you're stopped at a light, it suggests the brake disc is hot. I would see a bunch of steam from the right front, but not from the left. I initially dismissed it as nothing, but it all makes sense now.

huh when my car is vibrating i feel it coming from my right side too and i do get alot of brake dust maybe i should just replace both front calipers, i tried to do my brakes once and pulled out the front left caliper with the rotor and it was stuck to the rotor so i delayed my brakes, i figured it was because i had to bleed out the brakes so that the caliper would release the rotor huh. ill def check that out thanks

It sounds like the stuck caliper is the culprit in the case of the vibration, then. Mine would shake from 50-60 mph. I just did the one for the time being, but the calipers are not that expensive, so it may be worth just replacing both.

For us we had a number of issues to fix to get rid of vibrations, but the main culprit for us was actually the stock wheels. After multiple wheel balances, new tires, tie rod ends, control arms/ball joints, and replacing warped rotors we still had vibration. Installed some nice wheels (AVS model 5) and tires and it all went away, but any number of things could be causal factors, just got to get in there and check/replace things I find until it goes away, that's the way I like to do it anyway.

Its starting to become more evident that your problem really is an isolated issue. Just start with the easy stuff first, narrow down which end an audible sound or vibration may be more prominent. Replace bushings where possible, I was driving on the snow and for about two miles my entire car stop all vibrations. It was actually pretty weird. I'm going to start with the suspension, work my way to mounting bushings and lastly wheels in the spring.

Tranny mount is the culprit. Car was up on a lift, the tranny is completely disconnected from the mount. Put a rubber cushion between the support and tranny car ran quiet and smooth, no vibrations at all. Now to tackle that wind noise
