why doesnt my temp gauge work

Default why doesnt my temp gauge work

i checked the fuse. i dont kno what it could be..i can drive for like 30 min and it still wont move and car sometimes over heats??could it be the thermostat

Could be a bad needle motor.. Does it ever move at all?

it budges a lil bit when i turn the car on/off.Could it be somethin with the therm? the car was sittin 4 a while..could it be stuck

Not really, the needle would still move. If you were in my area, I'd throw my cluster in there to see if the needle motor was the culprit. You could try asking around to see if anyone is willing to. It is extremely easy to remove the cluster.

alright so the mechanic just told me its the wiring..he said the wires from the harness are all over the place..i guess the person that put my engine in did a sloppy job..but how do i fix that

If the car sometimes overheats, you've got an additional problem that could be the thermostat or quite a few other things depending on what other symptoms there are.

and the oil pressure light is on the oil was just changed the pressure is good..

thats what im assumming as of i just changed the oil..but i guess that doesnt mean anything huh??

No, it doesn't. You may have low oil pressure due to an issue with the oil pump, you may have a bad pressure sensor, or perhaps there's a problem with the instrument cluster. At any rate, I wouldn't recommend driving it until you get it sorted out.

alright so im goin to test all dat 2morrow.i can test the sensors with a volt tester correct??
