Default ECU replacement

Hello, my 1994 GS300 has had a major issue where the ECU is leaving my fuel gates open and flooding out my engine with gasoline. The lexus dealership has diagnosed this problem and is looking to charge me $1700 replace the computer system in my vehicle. I was wondering if anyone knew where i could find a cheaper ecu replacement, and how hard it is to install. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Check Ebay, they usually have some ECUs floatin around. Other than that, Im not sure what to tell you, you could spend a little less and get an AEM standalone fuel management system, hehe, they are about 1200 I think. But I wouldnt do that unless you plan on makin some serious power or somethin.
Its VERY easy to replace the ECU in this car, just bolts.
Welcome to CL, where in TX are you, if you need help replacing it and your close to Houston, let me know.

I am in galveston, the car is currently at clear lake lexus, and they are going to charge 400 to install the system. I was able to find a ecu elsewhere for a much better price, and i am definately interested in installing it myself. Houston is not a problem for me. Once the gas runs down my car will start again and i could probably make it to anywhere in houston without a problem.thanks for the advice and offering a hand, i'm sure i could use some help with it..... jlcelestine@yahoo.com is my email if you dont mind contacting me that way.

Find someone who did an engine swap to a GTE. I sold mine already to someone else with a similar situation.

You can find the ecu's for under 100bux used and they take way less than an hour to install. If you were local, I would do it for 50bux

50 bucks, lol, all you would be doing is unbolting a few bolts, and dont say its more than that because Ive gotten down there plenty of times to check my SAFC wiring. Im local and would do it for free, but hes gonna take it to the dealership because thats where the car is, which is probably the smarter thing to do since it keeps flooding. I would try to not drive it at all.

Yeah I'd have thought scrap yards or whatever you call them in the states would have a few GS ecu's about. The AEM isn't plug and play btw it needs some rewiring for the gearbox control. I reckon if I had the tools ready I could take the ten minute challenge to swap out a stock ECU.

Im not going to tell you its more than a few bolts, but I charge for my time unless its a close friend or family member.
All im saying is that im sure theres people like you who would do it for free and im sure a few people like myself who do it for a small fee in comparison to what the dealer wants.
So he still gets a wicked deal. My bet is that if he paid 50 for an ecu that he would be happy to pay 50bux for a guy to help him out so he didnt pay 1700 for and ecu and another 400 for labor. So he just saved 2k.
Either way good luck, I hope you get this resolved
