Solar sense circuit Did you do the test outside in the sunlight, or with an electric light overhead? If not then it's not the code 21. If it is solar sensor, check for 5volts dc between wires R/Y and G/B on the back of the A/C control assembly , if no voltage replace a/c control assembly. if voltage replace sensor.

I tested outside last night it was warm but a little overcast. Then after I read this I tested it in the garage with the lights off and got the same code. Is the solar sensor the sphere shaped sensors up on the dash ? I havent pulled the controls today cause my wife left for work. But which of the three harnesses will the R/Y and G/B wires be in ?
Also what would make the sensor work intermittantly ?

Thanks alot for your help. The lexus dealership wanted 212 bux to look at it. They would have prob. done the same thing you told me to do.

You misunderstood, it's need to be tested in the sunlight or with a bright overhead light (shop light) or you'll get the code 21. So doublecheck it in the "light".

Ok so now that I jacked this thread officially I checked the code outside in the sunlight and it flashes 00. I dont know if that means theres no code or if that is a code. Whats wierd is that the problem is intermittant. The AC will work for a while then stop, I turn the ac off and wait a minute and its working again ? I have a R134 pressure gauge, and it reads full. What gives ?

00 means all is normal What PSI does the R134A gauge read on the low side at 1500rpm with the fan on high and set to fresh air? Doors or windows open. Also what temp does the center vent read, you may have to buy an a/c or meat thermometer.

That's correct , it should be larger in diameter than the hi side line and cool to the touch when the ac is on.

I checked the pressure last night. With the ac off and the car at 750 rpm (cause I cant reach the throttle cable and hold the gauge at the same time) the pressure was at 110 PSI ! and with the AC on it went down to 45 PSI ! which on the gauge still reads *warning*
I didnt get the temp. Ill do that tonight.

That's too much freon! Did you add freon to it or something? Let me know what it reads under the conditions I posted.
