Default AC Issue on GS300's???

Quick question to those of you who have 2006 GS300 & live in high temperature areas (e.g. Arizona): Does any of your GS300 have a tough time blowing out cold air during a hot, mid day? Today I test drove a GS300 around 4:30 PM, and the local temperature was around 105 or so. I drove around for about 20+ minutes with the sales guy, but the air was barely cold, not to mention the fan was really weak even at MAX AIR setting. I previously had 2002 GS430 (totaled), but never had this issue, in fact, my auto temp setting was between 75~78 because it gets too cold otherwise.

Is this a common problem or did I just test drove a defective GS300 today?

Thanks!

I've been driving around GA with temps in the mid 90's, and my GS blows cold air with the thermostat usuallly set at 72. Keep in mind that on the GS you can set temp and fan speed separately. To get cold air, you need to lower the temp control, not increase fan speed.

I did have a strange problem with mine getting cold. It using took about 5- 10 min after sitting in the sun for a while. I complained to the dealer and they said the system was low on freon and said it would be corrected with a full system charge. I saw a slight change in the time to cool the car and the air feels slightly cooler to me. I live in Florida, so it does get pretty warm.

As compared to cars that I have owned in the past, the AC in the GS seems mediocre at best.

I have the same issue, but it's sporadic. The dealer checked it and didn't find any problems. For me it only happens on very hot days (above 95) and only when I'm going up a grade of some sort.

Thanks for your comments folks. Hmmm, I plan to go take a look at another GS300, just in case... If the same issue occur, this might be the deal breaker.

I noticed that my 2006 IS350 AC is not as cold as my girlfriend's 2001 ES300. I also noticed that if I set my IS AC on auto, the air is colder than if I leave the temperature on LOW and adjust the fan speed manually.

After leaving my car under the sun for 9-10 hours at work, it usually takes about 5 minutes before the a/c really cools the car down.

I complained to the dealer about the horrible A/C in the GS ever since I got mine last year. The excuses I've been given are that it is "working up to spec" and that they used a small compressor and there is nothing much they can do about it. Oh well. Guess we just have to live with it.

Wow, so, the same issue exists on GS430 huh? That's nuts. Well, all I can say is that good thing that I test drove that car in the mid day instead of evening... Thanks guys.

Hmph, if you leave your car in the sun, and cabin gets heated up, it will take a bit longer for it to cool down. Even the vents are hot, so they warm the air going out. So until 5-10 minutes passes, and vents cool down, you wont get maximum cold.

No problems with the AC in my car. I do notice that when you first start up, it takes a few seconds to kick in the AC fan if the cabin is really hot from being out in the sun. Other than that, it cools down pretty quick. I have mine set on auto at anywhere from 75-72 and no problems at all. I also started using the ventilated seats now that it's summer time. But it's pretty warm around here almost all year around anyways. I noticed that ceramic tint helps with the blocking the heat out and I have the foldable front shields for the dash. Where I park, the rear window has the most direct sun exposure, so I've been putting up the rear sunshade. It seems to help.

My AC works just fine, but then again it's rarely over 100 degrees here in NY.

This thread does not sound very encouraging. I test drove the GS300 and was not impressed with the A/C and barely felt the seat cooling system. I asked the salesman and he said the seat control was all the way up. I live in Fl and need strong A/C. My Infiniti even after parked in the sun gets so cold you can hang a side of beef! Please someone, tell me the A/C in the GS works fine and that just a few people are complaining.

It's worked great for me and get's cold as hell, but I only had that issue when outside temp hit over 110deg...
