My 95 GS300 has a couple of backlights not working. Can these be changed fairly easily or is it something a mechanic should do? If fairly easy where do you get the replacement lights?
I saw a post about doing this one time and I bookmarked it but I lost it. I would like to know too cause I want to swap out all the green LED's with ice blue.
I think O.L.T. is the person to talk to about this. I'm not sure if he's familiar w/ 1st gen gs's specifically, but I'm sure this is his area of expertise.
Hey 95green. its not that hard of a job. i had a few of mines go out and replaced them. I got my bulbs from the dealer they ran about $2 each i think, its been a while. DIY and save the money. I just got in and started taking out screws in the dash and pulled out the console disconnected the electrical plugs and swapped out the bulbs. If you just take your time doing it you will work your way through it with no problem.
That sounds easy enough. How's about a walkthrough where and how many screws we need to take out? How long did it take you do do everything, start to finish?
From what I've read in the SC forum, the backlight bulbs are easy to replace. If your needles are not working, that's a different story because Lexus doesn't sell the needles or the bulbs separately...you have to spend hundreds of $$ on a new instrument console.
