Hey guys,
I purchased a 93-95 civic pipe today. Where do I cut the pipe and where do the tubes go? thanks. I want to make sure I don't mess up.

You know, I spent some time writing a reponse, but I just realized that there is a square opening on the intake you purchased so you can install the MAF there. If you do that, then you would have to remove the existing MAF house and then you would need some type of adapter so you could mount the intake to the air-box. I think someone mentioned in another thread that the intake you purchased is meant for a 2nd gen gs.
Well, you can salvage the intake by cutting it. What you should do is place your new intake over the existing intake. Cut it so it can take the place of that plastic intake silencer (the plastic piece in the intake that has a rectangular box attached to the bottom of it). You should also make sure that you don't cut off the section containing the little tube protruding from the elbow, because this is where you have to attach that rubber tube coming from the cam-cover. I hope this helps. If not, let me know so I can try to explain it better.

Thanks for the info guys. The intake I purchased looks like this and is not the one I posted in the previous thread.

It looks like you will need an adapter to use that cone filter (I think an adapter from the 93 version of the Supra will work.)
You will also have to cut the pipe. You will want to keep the stock rubber hose joint that connects to the back of the MAF because it has a hose connecter attached to it (if you look at this rubber joint, there is a small rubber hose that connects to it and runs to the front of the engine.) Most likely you will end upt cutting a large part out of the intake because it looks pretty long. Most of the cutting will remove a large part of the straight portion of the pipe so it will fit in the stock location. I wish I had some type of program so I can circle the areas you will have to cut in the picture you posted. Let me find a couple pictures on this site to help you out.

Okay, here's an image I found on CL that will help me explain.
Okay, if you follow the intake piping from the throttle body, you will see a plastic piece, that's the intake silencer (this will be removed because it causes an intake restriction.)
Now, after the silencer is the stock rubber connecter that connects the silencer to the back of the MAF. There is a small rubber tube that attaches to it, it's very close to the MAF and it's on the right side of the rubber tube (you'll want to keep it unless the intake you purchased has a fitting so you can connect this small rubber tube to it. But I didn't see it, so you will have to salvage this part of the rubber tube).
What you'll have to do (and which is what I did) is cut the stock rubber connecter where there are those "ribs" on it. I cut it so the portion with all the ribs are gone (you'll end up with the stock rubber hose starting from the back of the MAF to the poiint where the first rib starts.) Now there should be a couple inches so you can place a hose clamp on it.
Next, you'll have to mock-up your new intake so you can figure out where to cut it so it fits between both rubber connectors. You'll end up cutting a lot of the straight portion of the pipe and then an angle cut near the elbow so it lines up with the throttle body.
In sum, the object is to replace the silencer and to keep the stock rubber hose connector near the MAF because it has that small connector for the small rubber tube that runs to the front of the engine block.
In regards to the cone, you'll need to buy an adapter so you can attach it to the MAF. You will still see some good performance gains without the cone filter because the intake silencer will be gone.
Hope this helps!

LexAristo- so how did it go, where you able to get your intake to fit?

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the information!! I just got home from work and dinner so I haven't had a chance to cut the pipe nor start anything.
I'll probably print out these directions and then see if i can do it with some assistance. Driving to meet the guy and paying for the civic intake cost me roughly 35.00.
BTW I currently have a injen hi flo filter, maf adapter, and injen heatshield. Basically all I will be doing is swap the stock intake pipe with the civic one. It looks like I will have to cut 2-3 inches off the bottom of the pipe.
