Today I took off my Injen heat shield & filter and replaced it with this nice one. I haven't done the piping yet, but I do feel more air and a deeper, louder exhaust sound.

Brian, notice how Lexus4jess2 cut out the ribbed portion of the stock rubber connector so he could save that little orifice (did I just say "orifice"?) for the small rubber tube to plug into? That's one way you could do it, but Gomka pointed out that you could just use the blue rubber connector that came with the kit by poking a hole in it, inserting the metal elbow inside, and connecting the small rubber tube to it.
I also noticed that Lexus4jess2 used a breather instead of connecting the rubber tube that runs from the top of the valve cover to the intake. I don't think you will pass a smog-check with a breather, so you should connect that hose to your intake (at least that's what I've been told quite a few times). From my experience, using a breather, which allows air into the engine without being measured by the MAF, causes the engine to run leaner because the computer will think there is less air in the engine so it will put in less fuel.

the car passed the smog test with flying colors.Did it to my 93 gs and to my 96(present)gs.the guy at the smog center said that it would not pass.proved him wrong. he he .

Hi,
I did not have the Injen intake, rather the injen heat shield, INjen hi-flo filter, and Maf adapter. There was no piping at all. After replacing the injen with the K&N style, I noticed a louder sound and more air going into my car.

What exactly is the purpose of a breather?
Am I able to paint the rubber connector with high temp paint ?
