It takes air out of the cam-covers and puts it into the intake so it gets used in the combustion process.

Am I able to paint the rubber connector with high temp paint ?
I think it might crack or peel-off after a while. Performance auto-shops sell these connectors in many colors, so you can buy one that has the color you desire.

Btw guys, should I paint the intake pipe gunmetal, gray, blue or what? Thanks
I painted mine black so the engine looks stock. If you want to paint it blue or some other bright color, you should probably paint other parts of the engine compartment so it matches and looks nice.

Indypwr- he bro, haven't heard rom you in a while, how are you doing? We've missed you over here

Sorry, I made a mistake when describing the purpose of the breather It doesn't suck air out of the cam-covers, air is sucked into the cam-covers from the intake. Cars today don't use a breather, instead they use a rubber tube to connect it to the intake so the air that is sucked into the cam-covers is accounted for by the MAF. That's why we have that rubber tube running from the cam-covers to the intake.

Okay, now to your question. I think it's a good possibility it would use more gas because if you use a breather, air is being sucked into the engine but it was not measured at the MAF. Therefore the engine will not have an accurate reading of how much air is going into the engine, so this can mess up the air/fuel ratio and your mileage might go down.
