my uncle was going to get this car for himself (he owns a small used car dealership in town) but he got it from a dealership in illinois. But since he owes me money, he couldnt pass up the proposition I gave him for the car. So its mine now muahaha. I am very impressed with the car, (LOVE IT) but man I am ready for new wheels.
In texas I have a set of 20's that i had on another 98 gs400 that would fit the car (not the anitique bronze one, I had another one before that that was burnished gold)(loaned them to my dad), but I just need to find out how to get them up here, and ill probably ship these down there. hard when this is my daily commute at the moment) but man this nice weather makes me want some wheels bad. but basically one of the cars will have to sit on blocks while the wheels are in transit (should have never let him take them, i do not even know what kind of condition they are in now)
I am going to call him tomorrow to see if he can ship them back here, as I am desperate. While I will probably get some wheels specifically for this car deep into the summer but for now I am tight with money as I still need to buy the plates and am in the process of moving to a new apartment, but man would those 20's I had on my other GS fit nicely.
Welcome Dan, Steve here in Davenport.
My Dad just got an IS350 and I took his SC400 for myself.
The IS is a nice ride, hope you enjoy it...not any moddin' necessary for you.
Where's everyone been!?!?! I've been checking the site every other day and no one's talking much. Getting work done for an Iowa Meet I guess.
I've been ***** deep in my SC300 auto to manual swap. Taking a little longer than expected because of not being able to work on it. So far everything is ready to go back in. Just got a new pilot bushing, which was the last part on my "to buy" list. Everything should be installed and done by the end of this weekend. *PRAYS TO GOD* Only thing that may hold us back is the wiring.
Well I've been slowly putting together a website for the 5 speed swap. It's a work in progress, but I plan on finishing it w/in the next couple days. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Updated it again with a couple more pages. Still working on compiling an electrical page as well as a page for all the torque specs. I'll try to finish it by the end of the week.
BTW, I plan on flushing out my transmission and installing a new Dragon Precision torque converter sometime this summer. I was wondering if you would be willing to help/advise me install it? I would love to earn the upgrade with my own sweat. I have the skills necessary to do the work, but I haven't performed this level of a mod on any of my cars. If I have someone with experience watch what the hell I'm doing ,so I don't screw things up, would be most excellent. I understand if you'd rather not, just let me know if you're willing to help an amateur modder out.
I doub't I'll be able to be there physically. But I sure can help you out through the forum or emails. Just let me know if you have any questions. Re-installing a torque converter should be pretty easy. Just pay attention when you remove your stock unit, so you know how it goes back on.
Maybe....I wouldn't be able to "rent" out the shop b/c of a ruined past experience. We have a couple cars to work on right now and not sure when we'll have free time to work on any others. We are in the middle of a S13.5 Nissan 240sx / SR20 swap right now.
To be honest, the best way to learn is to get your hands dirty and do it yourself. If you have an extra daily driver, that helps.
If you need, buy a FSM, or follow along to a MKIV Supra NA FSM. Same procedure for removing/installing a new torque converter.
Any questions, I'm here to help. You can always give me a call on my cell if need be. (319)361.8766
