did you ever upgrade the harddrive? or test it with PS1/2 games?

i ask, because original 40gb PS3s didn't have any backwards compatibility.

mind posting the serial/model number? should start CECH____

Truth, even with hard drive upgrade doesn't matter. Motherboard chip has the compatibility, not HD.

Hmm actually I've never played ps1 or 2 games on it. I just thought the older fat ps3's were all backwards compatible. Sorry for the mistake, and no harddrive hasn't been upgraded. Its all stock.

And im located in the San Gabriel valley.
