Interesting that BEVs gain but PHEV continue to decline. I think folks are understanding that hybrids, while a good transitional tech, has more long term issues the BEVs. Probably one of the reasons why the new Prius has such low expectations....

Once the incentive is removed. No point in buying the PHEV until they come back or prices are lower. Up here, Toyota is really smart. They only sell the PHEV where there are government and provincial incentives (very smart company)
I like the new Prius actually...it's too bad they don't have a BEV variant of it... Would sell like hotcakes even if they make it comparable to a Nissan leaf ..

I didn’t care for it when I saw it at the auto show. On the roads it does looks very good Especially when blending in with traffic. Too bad the interior is a major let down IMO, especially the weird a pillar plastic. The drab interior. And the lack of a sunroof that opens is a dealbreaker.

Meh. The Prius costs $1050 per year to fuel. I would rather have the convenience of never having to plug the car in. 588 range means 20 gas station visits at 5 min each. The plug in Prius is a giant waste of money IMO

Just went to Fuel economy.gov to check annual fuel cost for Prius, and yes it is at about $1,000. Disregarding distance traveled and gas prices across the country, I just checked Model 3, and it costs $500 annually, assuming that website uses the same annual mileage and average electricity cost/average fuel cost. You still end up saving $500 a year, with the convenience of never having to stop at a gas station. No matter how you spin it, EVs cost less to run even when compared to the most fuel efficient hybrid on the road.

P.S., in my city, Gas prices are at $5.50/gal.
You forgot to add it's the most boring car in the world to drive and makes a horrible, droning sound when you have to step on it and has almost no power. I lived with one for 3 weeks. I would rather plug in a Model 3 every night if I had to, which takes less than 30 seconds (which is four minutes and 30 seconds less than a gas station fill-up, not including the time it takes to drive to the gas station, pay and put the nozzle in the fuel tank)

.
There is no spin. $1000 a year in fuelling cost is $83 a month to avoid having to charge or stop more frequent because of range. . I wasn’t comparing the Prius to a Tesla nor was I saying it was cheaper to run or maintain.
S and X sales numbers are pretty low; they will have to sell a lot more to affect overall margins.
S & X have always sold in small numbers. Although I do see more of them over the last two years, 3 and Y will always be their bread and butter. Although the Cybertruck may surprise us
CA hits EV target ahead of schedule. It’s not the first place to do so, and won’t be the last
"California has reached 1.5 million electric vehicle sales two years ahead of its planned 2025 target for the sales milestone, according to the California Energy Commission.
With EV demand soaring, California is not the first place to reach its EV sales goals early, and it won’t be the last"
Where California goes, the rest of the automobile industry goes
