This process is ALL about cheap, no complex panel, no internal reinforcement, no handle cutouts, NO PAINT, and ability to go right off the forming machine onto end product. It's a financing department wet dream and brilliantly simple and cheap way to make panels, combine that with the cult of tesla and people will gladly pay more for less lol!
The choice of cold rolled stainless steel was probably not cheap, but I agree, tons of savings.
I don't think it's just cult of Tesla that are willing to pay for this truck. I've talked to a few truck guys and they are drooling over it, including a friend who owns a Raptor. He's never owned anything EV in his life
LOL exactly! Now you get it and understand why I like it. Ugly as hell but cool AF.
I've actually started to like the looks...at least the front and sides. Last night I asked one of my nephew's what he thought of the rear...he said it looks like something built in Minecraft LoL 🤣 He should know because when he was younger, he spent hours and hours playing Minecraft. He knew the game so well, he once spent an hour telling me the history of the game, everything you can do and build in the game, and all it's cheats!

Just because people have criticisms doesn't mean they are negative. Like I said I think the CT is really cool, but its a fashion accessory not a practical vehicle. Pretending that its going to be used by contractors and the military and police departments etc is just silly, its going to be driven around suburbs by rich people.

tons of people buy regular trucks to fit their world view even if they never tow and rarely ever put anything in the bed. so this is nothing new with cybertruck.

just silly, huh? i think your quote there is going to look pretty silly in a couple of years. these things are tanks and make a lot of sense as work vehicles. you can also power construction and other equipment (even as simple as lighting) with them instead of carrying a stinky and loud gas generator.
are they going to replace f250 and f350s? unlikely. but they pose a real threat to the 1/2 ton truck market (i think that's what they call the f150, silverado, regular ram, tundra, etc).

That guy bags on just about any new technology I'm wondering if it's an act to attract shall we say the less sophisticated viewer. Only thing that makes him happy is burning fossil fuel.
The big takeaway from this 50+ page thread should be how many posters here who do not have a truck are talking about the cybertruck. You have to get pretty far down the list of top thread contributors before you get to anyone who, if memory serves, currently has a truck. If I were Tesla, I’d be pretty pleased about that.

You're funny my friend.
My F650 truck back in the day would comfortable haul this cybertruck in the bed while pulling a large trailer. Lol
Add, well, maybe not comfortably if this thing weighs 6k lbs, it would grunt for sure but it would do it. Lol

Very good assessment! 👍👍
I think that was by design - Elon Musk deliberately designing something different to "shake" up the market.

I own a '21 Ranger Lariat if that counts as a truck. I've only used it for long road trips 2x and for picking up stuff for my wife from Home Depot/Lowes. I don't see a CT meeting those needs for me.
