I'm definitely not ruling it out, but the most likely scenario is an EV running Apple software, and possibly hardware like processors, screens etc

The Fisker Ocean is made by Magna Steyr so the manufacturing base is there if they don’t want to spool up their own factory

It looks like it's a defective cable, not the car itself. Reading more, it seems they have a defective temperature sensor

Is it being pumped into real estate assets or some kind of tangible asset?

Can't be a loss that big per car for labor.

Just thinking there has to be more to the story, it makes no sense.

Something shady is going on. IMO

Part of it has to do with where they are in production. They've invested huge amounts in building a factory, and only produced 1550 cars in that quarter so the losses per car will be staggering. Tesla has also gone through the headline cycles of "they lost $x per car this quarter" while ramping production several times.

That said, that level of money loss would have bankrupted many companies I'm sure. Would they have spent differently without the security of the Saudi money, though?

I'm pretty down on lucid in general, starting with a Model S competitor was a mistake. It's also uglier IMO. I've seen one Lucid ever, so it feels like the market agrees.

Hey when you guys say pre condition or pre heat, do you mean for example like remote starting your EV and warming up the inside or do you guys mean like warming up the battery (if that’s possible) or both?

Today I call myself “pre heating” my PHEV while it was on the charger to warm up the inside. It has this mode called “room mode”. I had the heat on inside the car while connected to the charger in hopes so it wouldn’t lose any EV range when I was ready to drive. I’m not sure if it warmed up the hybrid battery too. By time we were ready to drive it was pretty warm inside we had to turn off the heat which in turn saved some EV range. While in room mode my charger was showing to put out 0.7A and every so often it would jump up to 7.0A for a few seconds then drop back down.

Do you “pre heat” while plugged in or unplugged?

Preconditioning is warming up the battery so that it's at an optimal temp for charging/driving. It also usually sets the cabin temp to whatever you have it set to if you aren't already driving

Let me ask you this: how many people try and trick a Rivian and jump into the back seat, or sleep while the car is driving itself. I've seen with my own eyes someone asleep at the wheel of a Tesla. Here in the Bay area, there's a young guy who's been arrested a few times for riding in the backseat while driving on the freeway.

I don't find it to be an issue in anyway that Tesla monitors you while using Autopilot or FSD. I'm sure one day when a Rivian will get into an accident using some type of autonomous mode, they'll also be forced to monitor drivers

I don't play that "they are singling me out" game. As the world's EV leader, it's only natural you are going to take some hits

So if I'm understanding you correctly, Tesla should be forced to do a recall to increase driver monitoring but when Rivian doesn't do it at all when using their driver assist tech, they get a pass. Because they sell less vehicles? And people in a Tesla will try and trick the system but no one in a Rivian will? Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here.

I fail to see how being the "world's EV leader" has any influence at all on how safety rules should be applied.

I can care less what they force Rivian or any other automakers to do or not to do. Tesla is held up to a higher standard. If my Y is monitoring to make sure I'm paying attention, that's fine with me. Pushing the OTA recall didn't hurt me one bit
