Tesla folks tend to be vowed by the gimmick tech like no key, no start button, everything on app etc. Nothing to do with luxury of the actual car.
I’m sure they recognize those differences, but the Tesla has a unique appeal that appeals to them and those issues just aren’t a factor for them. Teslas are different in terms of luxury and build than other cars in their price category I don’t think anybody denies that

This refresh improves those areas though.

Point was not EV vs ICE but Tesla vs others. BMW, Mercedes, Audi all have EVs

For instance the 2 people that work for me that just traded their BMW 3 and Mercedes E on Model 3s considered the 4 series EV and the EQE and chose the Model 3

Still no 680nm red for the tail lights get it together Tesla. German auto makers are making beautiful lights in comparison.

exactly, and that's not an 'ice' thing it's a chassis dynamics and competence thing.

as you say, the model 3 is what toyota wishes it could build to brand as a camry. it's cheap to build, functional, reliable, trendy, stylish 'enough'. it and the model y are clearly home runs for tesla, and go way beyond the original affluent ev buyers. good for tesla! and many who traded in their 'luxury' cars to get 3's/y's did so partly from peer pressure in their gated communities or the gym/club parking lots, FOMO, or just getting the shiny new thing plus not having to suffer the indignity of engaging in fueling with the plebs.

so you're telling patgilm, who has a plaid but can't drive it because it's been in tesla service for months, who is stuck driving a model 3, that he should go drive a 3p because it's fast in a straight line. got it.

Anyway, thought I would share that
i'm sure it was helpful.

assume that's like all the non-tesla cars and brings up camera view on the screen. nbd.

I was referring to the price cuts and saying I felt bad because now a Plaid is under $100K. He likes the way the loaner Base Model 3 drives, I was just telling him he should try the 3P

I was absolutely not trolling. He was commenting on why he thinks people buy Tesla as if he lives in our brains. How would it sound if I said all BMW drivers are rich snobs that think cars are supposed to break down every month? I'm sure BMW drivers would be completely happy to hear a comment like that from someone who never owned one...or lived with one

680nm is deep red. Looks more pleasing, classy. Visibility is slightly worse vs. 613-625nm which everyone considers "red". In reality this has an orange hue. Next time you see a new Audi or Mercedes you'll know what I mean.

Well, as my friends from CivicX would say: "There's always the aftermarket"

There will be a crap ton of aftermarket stuff for Highland. Good thing my wife primarily drives the Y or you know what I'd be doing I'm purposely staying away from the car when it's home.

When I had the 2018 Civic Si, and then bought the IS350, I was always modding them. I still have the old parts sitting in my garage, every now and then my wife asks me when I'm going to get rid of them. As far as the Y is concerned, other than a few cosmetics, I have no desire to mod it. I still have the metal shifter ball sitting in my drawer after changing it to a Carbon Fiber shifter:

Too soon, too soon. I’ve never owned a car that depreciated so fast in such a short period of time LOL. It is what it is, I just wish I had the new tailights. That’s the only thing that bothers me right now. That and the fact that my car now has bodywork done to it. What’s my car worth now, $40k LOL.

If you love the car and hold it long and keep it in the family it may not matter much.

All cars depreciate because time is the enemy of resale value in the end.

Just trying to see the bright side. 🪐

I hope those steering wheel buttons/controls are illuminated. And I would need an aftermarket steering wheel emblem, those embossed letters don't cut it.
