I'm a buyer. Production will likely ramp Q1 or Q2 next year. I NEED a 3 second 0 to 60 Tesla! Nout sure what to do with our perfect Mid Range... Probably go to a family member.

So did a Camry and Taurus for decades and those were hideous. What’s your point?

 

This outclasses Camry and Taurus in every way possible. My point, not everyone thinks it's ugly like you do. You know in your heart (although it hurts you to) it's objectively better, which is why the brand sells so well. Camry lost that crown

Right - but point still remains that ugly cars have dominated sales before.

Model 3 is the new Camry - boring appliance with bland styling that is made
to appeal to ppl that don’t like cars but need one to get around.

 

I was not comparing Model 3 to a Taurus or Camry in terms of performance /tech. Only in that they were once segment leaders like Model 3 is now.

Most folks that buy these things don’t have opinion on it. I don’t buy a toaster and debate of one is better styled than the next. Same for general public with cars. Elon Musk to his credit understood this and thats why Teslas are all the same yet still appeal to mass audience.

Its different than enthusiast buyer who wants to be unique/special etc and where design plays much more importance.

 

Some people have obviously not driven a model 3 enthusiastically . Anyways, back to highland....Fremont lines getting updated this quarter. Wonder if it's imminent for q4....

Tesla's appeal to a mass audience because they are actually interesting. Extremely interesting where long time BMW, Mercedes, Audi etc drivers are jumping ship and buying Tesla. Imagine driving a car that is around $50K that can compete with high end cars and beat many of them, yet are about as efficient as a Prius. And then instantly revert back to a family hauler. Speaking strictly about myself, although I don't track, I am somewhat of an enthusiast, and Tesla's meet one hundred percent of my needs....they are powerful and fast when I need it to be, and have dual use as efficient family haulers at the same time.

No one is asking you like or buy a Tesla, just to think about what you are saying when comparing them to a Camry, as I know several BMW owners (3 series, 5 series and X owners) who jumped ship and bought a Model Y or X and never looked back (I'm not saying one is better than the other as I've never owned a bmw)

 

I'm sure Tesla is crushed to learn their car is the new Camry.
