I backed into my garage door on very little sleep due to an 11-day old baby (luckily baby wasn't in the car with me). Hoping to get this repaired on our own if possible - my husband previously replaced a mirror on our 2008 BMW but not sure if this will be substantially more complicated. Up/down/left/right controls are working, and the hinge to tuck in the mirror also works fine, and the turn signal flashes as expected but the plastic is shattered. Can anyone link me to advice on how to repair this? I saw in a forum for a 2013 model that lexuspartsnow.com has the painted covers, but looking at their website I am not sure which parts we would need. Any advice appreciated for this sleep deprived momma.
I would simply check around on the internet with salvage yards for a replacement. Bet you would find one at considerably less money and trouble trying to repair it.
You can always get it painted whichever color you want. Just bolt it on... GOOD LUCK!
I've taken these mirrors apart about 10 times so far? So they're really easy to disassemble. If I'm not mistaken you can fix this standing outside the car. Remove the glass (just pull from bottom with fingers, it clips in. Then there's philips screws on the inside that hold the outer halves together. total 3 pieces. Just ask the dealer if they sell the painted outer half, the top piece, and the inner piece. If so, you can fit them all to the inner core/frame and call it a day.
If you can only get the entire assembly, it will be expensive unless you go ebay. and even then it's expensive but you do need it. in that case, you'll need to remove the door panel to access the 3 bolts/nuts holding it to the door. but that's easy too. i made a thread on removing the door panel. and yeah you'll need the glass too of course. i think there's BSM and non BSM. IIRC all are heated. then i believe some mirror housings have the camera cutout. not sure which options your car has but you'll need to match them all.
Assuming you have an optioned mirror, I believe you need part 8791006C71D0, list price $630. It looks like the entire painted assembly. Triple check the part # with your dealer though using the vin.
eBay does not turn up any used mirrors right now. i think your best bet is just buying the whole thing.

If your a Costco member, they offer a 15% discount on parts from the manufacturer as well.

...
NoeV may need to shop around to get a price in that ballpark. Some listing I saw for that part number were asking the full MSRP of $859.70.
If you can find one at a salvage yard it would probably be half or less than that price. I also believe that several different model years may fit which would increase the number available.
You would have to check with Lexus parts. GOOD LUCK...
Thank you all for the advice!! I checked many salvage yards online, as well as eBay, and could only find 1 mirror in the wrong color for $475 - so would have to pay to get it repainted. We called the dealer and we can order the whole assembly painted for $575 with the Costco discount (thank for the tip on that discount @dklanecky1 !!). I also found @E46CT 's post on removing the door (posted below in case anyone else comes across this thread in the future and wants it for reference). My husband is feeling pretty confident about doing this himself thanks to those directions - as he also had to remove the door panel when he previously repaired the BMW mirror. We'll probably go this route - thank you all for the advice.

For $20 you can get a 2 day subscription access to the Toyota/Lexus Technical Information System (TIS). Amongst other things, the subscription will give you access to the official repair manual(s) for your Lexus.

Oh this is good to know, thank you for the tip! We may need it.
door panel removal is easy
but you'll loose some originality of th new car.
some seals inside the panel need to be removed and do not stick back well in place. I beleive these are to reduce cabin noise and keep dust out from panel parts.
avoid removing the panel if it can be fixed from outside.
pop out the mirror and replace the housing covers and other broken parts.

there's absolutely zero truth to this. it's just a simple door panel removal. When it comes to the door cards, there are no "seals" to "reduce cabin noise" and "keep the dust out"
the only concern is losing or breaking clips. but they can be used a few cycles without degradation

Yeah it's really easy. Little risk of breaking anything, all the parts disassemble and pop off really easily. Some cars like my prior CT200h have extremely tight fitting parts which are easily damaged when removing the door panel. But the 7ES is really simple and elegant in how it comes off. Post some pics of the final product.
Update - mirror fully repaired! Big thanks to @E46CT for the instructions on door panel removal! And to everyone on this thread for pitching in - we wouldn't have had the confidence to do this on our own without you.
We've never repaired our Lexus before and the entire job took exactly an hour and was very easy.
We ordered the part (8791006C30D0) from the Lexus dealer for $575 using the Costco discount. Each person we talked to at the parts department had a different interpretation on how to use the Costco discount, and ultimately when picking up the part my husband had a bit of a struggle getting them to apply it but it did work out. You'll need to print off an authorization form from Costco before you pick up the part - you can register for the discount at this website: https://www.costcoauto.com. Ordered part at 4pm Wednesday and was ready for pickup by 9:30 am next day!
When unscrewing one of the 3 bolts, the first bolt fell inside the door. A flashlight and an extendable magnet got it out no problem. But be careful of where the bolt drops when unscrewing to avoid this problem.
The only other thing not listed in the door panel removal instructions was the removal of this white part (pictured). There are pinch tabs on either side by the arrows. It was easy enough to figure out on our own, but took pictures in case they are helpful to anyone.
Good as new and completed all while baby was napping! Thanks y'all! Really appreciate your advice!
Had to fumble a bit to get this white part off. Its was easy once we figured it out - pinch tabs to get this part off Long magnet to fish out bolt that fell into door cavity. Almost done Good as new! Good as new!
