Default New ES350UL

The lease on my 2016 RX350 was due to expire at the end of June and Lexus offered to write-off the last 3 payments if I leased another Lexus. I just took delivery of a new ES350. It is a rather lightly equipped UL - no pano roof and no triple headlights. It does have the noise reducing wheels, the safety stuff, and a HUD. The car is black with a flaxen interior and bamboo trim. After driving the RX for almost 3 years, driving the ES is a whole new experience. I was worried that the 8 speed auto would have the same lazy shifts that the one in the RX had but that is not the case. The ES seems much more willing to downshift at part throttle and a lot quicker. The ride is very smooth and the car is exceptionally quiet. The biggest improvement in noise compared to the RX is over coarse pavement. I guess the wheels really work. I miss the ease of entry and exit of the taller RX and the overhead sunglass holder, but otherwise really enjoy the ES more.

Nice car and nice colors. How is your full throttle downshift at 30mph cruise? Lightening fast or a bit of a lag?

The trans in the new ES is definitely smoother than in the RX - we have both. My wife still prefers the SUV though. Not me.

It is very quick, no noticeable lag.

Obsidian. The UL choices without pano roof were limited and I really wanted the flaxen/bamboo interior so obsidian it was.

I considered obsidian as well but ended up going with Nightfall Mica. I went with the black interior. I'm really surprised the flaxen interior sells much. It reminds me of the color of a basketball. I special ordered since getting the hybrid in the UL with pretty much all options (no triple beam headlights) was pretty much impossible. I should finally be getting my car in about 2 weeks.

My RX was Nightfall Mica with a black interior. The interior always felt dark and monocromatic so I was looking for something else this time. I loved the Nightfall Mica and constantly got comments about what a special color it was.

Not sure it sells that much really. I rarely see that interior.
