I was expecting an IS, ended up getting a brand new 2013 ES350. Interesting car, but not sure if it is worth the price they are asking

I am surprised why there are so many RX, probably because they are easy to sell used?

Anyway the ES is a very nice vehicle, but I think it is REALLY overpriced. The sticker on this car is $45K and that's what they go for right now due to the hype. Meanwhile the RX with NAV can be gotten for roughly the same price after discount. I honestly don't know why anyone would want to pay $45K for this car. Thank god it is a loaner, wife is already complaining about how she can't sit in a regular sedan after riding in the RX.

Oh yeah the ES handles nicer, but it doesn't ride anywhere close to the RX.

Lexus of Serramonte has been lending me 2011-2013 RX's each time with the occasional CT. Fremont is the same with RX's but I have gotten an HS once. They both said they dont have IS's and GS's as loaners.

On my initial visit they gave me a 2012 RX 450h. Basically, the exact same car as the 350 other than the fuel economy and the blue glow around the badge. The 20 or so horsepower difference was completely unnoticeable.

Next time I'm hoping for an IS, ES, or GS as I've never driven any of them . I'm new to Lexus but am very familiar with BMW. I know the 3 series and IS are similar in size as well as the 5 series and the GS, but have no idea where the ES fits in.

The dealer has a policy of setting you up with a loaner that matches what you are dropping off as far as a model type. You have the option of requesting something else. When I had my '07 ES and was looking at another vehicle the best thing in the world was being able to take out an RX, GS, CT and LS for a real world test drive for an entire day while the ES was in for service or any warrantly work.

Default Dealer has 25+ 2012 RX350 and ES350

I've had one of each so far, heavily optioned, both about 3K miles.

I've had the IS250, the ES, a CT, and the best of all a GS. The GS is leaps and bounds ahead of the ES. (duh) I drive a RX, but have never driven a RX loaner.

I asked for a CT last time. Usually ask for an ES just to drive something different.

The majority of loaners at my dealer are ES and RXs. You can request an IS. Personally, I like the RX the best because you never know if a snow or ice storm might occur, and even prefer the IS over the ES. The cars are always the current or new year. I had a 2013 RX a couple of months ago.

I guess this is why we all paid a premium to get basically a Toyota Highlander, for the extra service
