Was wondering is uv ceramic tints good enough to protect my interior from sun damage especially the front windshield .
or am I better just getting a sunshade
also what’s the cost roughly
also does it come in clear since I don’t like having that dark tint look and cops here are jerks.

I have both and use the sunshade every time. Not only does it protect the interior from UV, but reduces the temperature significantly. Nothing worse than sitting on a hot seat in the summer.

Looks like the Lamisafe™ laminated glass (windshield as well as Luxury and Ultra Luxury model types' front door windows) is even better at blocking UV light than the blocking amount cited in that article. From AGC Automotive Lamisafe™ (scroll down to the Technical information section):

 

I added 3-M ceramic to my 2022 300h UL all the way around. Used clear for windshield, it helps a little. With the problems with dash material scuffs I hesitated to use sun shades. Steering wheel does get hot, although not as bad. I would do again. $300.for windshield, $700. for the rest.

 

I did not put any tint on my windshield for visibility reasons, and nothing on the back window because I have the fun-to-use rear sunshade which deploys on command.
I did, however, add 30% SunTek ceramic tint to the rear side windows, and 40% tint to the front side windows. This works well, and looks great from outside the (dark blue) car. Those 4 windows cost me about $380.00.

 

Also depends on what type of glass,. in terms of UV resistance. Laminated glass usually has around 98-99% protection. Tempered glass 60-something IIRC. So a good tint can help with any gaps there.

In terms of heat, a good ceramic will block instantaneous heat. But eventually the car inside will reach the same temp as a non tinted car. whether its through convection or radiation, take your pick.

I have Llumar Air80 full windshield tint. was a pretty penny. Definitely rejects heat in the sense of the feeling on your face. But the car will still slowly get hot over time.

 

I live in Texas and have experimented to test this in a used car lot in the summer. Paint color or window tint doesn’t matter - every car parked outside felt hot as hell inside. Maybe a thermometer would show a difference but each car felt the same to me inside.

Regardless, Lexus glass already blocks UV.

 

Might be worth looking at applying something like 303 aerospace proetctant to the interior. It's used on boats, which are a lot more exposed to the sun. I treat my seats and all interior plastics with it.

my concerns is the dashboard from the heat .!
since it’s not the hard plastic but glued on.
i don’t mind the heat at all since I drive only after the sun goes down. ( vampire lifestyle)
I have seat protector all over my seats since I have that light cream color interior and I rather have protection than leave it bare and stains from anywhere would leave a Permanent mark
installed thoese the within a week I got the car so I never really seat my original seat..!!
and I don’t want over time to the glue to peel off
I want to keep this car for atleast 10years or maybe forever if the new body style is ugly
I guess I’ll just get a sunshade for the car and the tints for extra protection..


any good suggestions on sunshades that super easy to install
