Default ES 300h dashcam

I’m about to buy a quality dashcam. The dealer suggested the Lexus genuine dashcam yet it doesn’t record in-cabin. He also warned me not to install any third party dashcams as they may intervene with electricals.

Please let me know if you have any experience on this

Plenty of quality dashcams out there. I don't care about in-cabin recording so I just got a forward facing one. I went with FitcamX and it's great. Has a clean look that's almost OEM and install is a breeze.

If you want in-cabin recording a brand I recall that was really good was Vantrue.

I installed the FitCamX also. It is awesome but lacks an interior camera. Don’t worry about installing a superior aftermarket dash cam.

I had a FitCam on my first 2021 ES and then on my 2nd 2021 ES. See my post here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...l#post10996090

I drive Uber and many of us prefer the Vantrue N2 Pro. It records front and in cabin with night vision. It's about $140. I've had mine for 3 years now and it still works great.

The two issues are that it only records front in 1080p (1440p if not recording inside) which isn't good enough to capture license plates of other cars at a significant distance and it only has local recording on a micro-SD card rather than upload to the cloud. I shouldn't consider those disadvantages since they're usually only on high end dash cams. So I guess we could call them it a "lack of high end features". I'd like my next camera to have higher front resolution and upload to the cloud via your phone (bluetooth or WiFi).

Has anyone had the Lexus Integrated Dashcam installed from a Lexus dealer or DIY yet?

Did you install the fitcamX with the rear camera? If so, how was the cable run? I'd like to run that rear camera but the cable run through the weatherstripping seems impossible. Some people suggested the floorboards..

I didn't even know there was an OEM option but the specs seem to be quite old. There's no recent update?

Even the owner's manual for the dash cam references android 5 which came out years and years ago.

The OEM option is over two generations old and offensively bad. Don't buy it. There is an identical Toyota branded camera,.and between the two you can find all the horrible reviews.
