You bought a car that's been driven for 3 years in circumstances you know nothing about. Even Carfax doesn't always report bodywork or collision damage. You don't know the car was built the way you're seeing it now.

I have a 2019 KY-made one and as someone with OCD, I have noticed 0 imperfections. My 2018 Camry was KY-made as well and had no QA issues. I believe the overall testament is that Japan-built vehicles may be better, but it's not really a drastic difference. Plenty of well-built KY cars, and plenty of "poorly" built Japanese cars.

My perspective on this is based purely on my experience with owning both American made and Japan made Toyota, Honda, Lexus, and Acura vehicles. Japan made vehicles have been more reliable for me.

Unfortunately, since no scientific studies have been done, we only have anecdotal and hearsay evidence to go by. Obviously, any differences between countries of origin aren't stark, or the subject wouldn't be up for debate. Too, I'd take any Toyota, Honda, Lexus or Acura vs any American or German (excluding Porsche) brand, regardless of country of origin.

Default Make Your CarPlay Wireless

But with our new Lexus, I’ve looked and listened very hard and been unable to find a single thing to complain about.
I wish the Apple Car Play were wireless. Some auto makes are. I missed that issue in doing my research before buying and I am displeased with visible cables. But I bought a 4 inch black cable and it’s hardly visible.
I almost bought a BMW but when I test drove it and had to tolerate that engine auto on-off thing, I ran the other way. What a nuisance and it’s got to be hard on the car over its lifetime. Also hate run-flat tires and sun roof that retracts OVER the roof.
CDillac was beautiful—-maybe nicer than the Lexus, but it’s reliability is questionable. Also doesn’t hold its value well.
Thrilled with this fine luxury Lexus 350 ES. Buy one.
For $78 I converted my 2022 ES 350 to wireless CarPlay. $69 Ottocast U2Air (Amazon) and a $9 cable from China (AliExpress) and I now have a wireless solution that allows me to close the drawers under the radio and put my phone in the console charger. Very clean and tidy solution. The Ottocast tucks into the slot where you'd put the phone just in front of the cupholder.

Out of the dozens of times it's booted up I've only had one time (early on) where it didn't log into the the phone's WIFI so I did that manually. It boots up in less than 20 seconds and the latency when scrolling through the CarPlay screen is negligible.

Ive learned how to avoid it for the most part on the downshifts to 1st. Most of my daily driving is freeway where it's not an issue. But it was quite annoying early on when I first took ownership -five years later, it no longer bothers me.

I don't know what happened with your car, but I can guess. The '19 ES, like the '18 Camry, wasn't just a new model year or even a new generation. It was an entirely new platform, the first Camry/ES fundamental reboot of everything but the drivetrain in about 20 years. It's no wonder they weren't quite as perfect as their immediate predecessors. And even at that, they were basically free of major faults except for the batch of bad fuel pumps that extended across nearly the whole Toyota and Lexus lineup.

Where is this poll? It would be interesting to update it.

Default 2019 es 350

  1. Hey, I hit a deer about a year ago. Wasn’t a direct impact hit. He came out on the interstate and I swerved and the deer kinda laid on the car and roughed it up a bit. The body shop that the Lexus dealer referred us to does all of their bodywork and supposed to be Toyota/ Lexus certified. They were so incompetent. I had to pay 3 months worth of rentals out of my pocket. I was livid and got into a nasty **** contest with the body shop management. Since we received our car back we have been having glitches of inside electrical issues. The first week all of collision lights illuminated while out of town. We parked the car and when starting the car again it went away. Next the door locks started acting funny. All the doors locked except one. It was so annoying and then two doors! Next , then three doors. It’s so embarrassing! I locked the key fob in the car one day and the doors wouldn’t unlock like usual so, I had to use the key shank. Sometimes the auto dim lights will come undone and sometimes with the auto headlights it says turn off headlights. Now recently, I’m having problems with the vehicle’s key fob. The vehicle recognizes the key fob! The vehicle will start with the key fob remote start but will not start with the ignition push start button! Any ideas. I have replaced the car battery. I replaced the remote key fob battery. I even took the battery out of the key fob and held it against the push start button. All attempts, attempted to start and said starting on the information center. But nothing happened. Brake lights illuminate! I went as far as toggling the brake light switch plunger on the brake pedal and even reset the parking brake system. The steering wheel stayed locked the entire while! I thought it supposed to be free from right to left as I turn with the key off. What should I do next the car is stranded on my wife’s job.

Have you tried with both your key fobs?

Do the doors unlock and open with fob in your pocket (not using the fob buttons)?

I only have one fob. I forgot I laid my spare on my company work vehicle and it got run over multiple times when I found it. Yes the driver door will unlock with the fob in my pocket. Only the driver door will unlock. All of the rest of the doors will not unlock. I don’t know if the body shop swapped BCM with another ES or actuators with another ES 350. I don’t know what to do next

So the car doesn't start when you hold the fob again (physically touching it) the ring surrounding the start push button?
