Why Does My Car Ding Sometimes?

I don't know why the message doesn't appear here, but I got an email stating that LeeSoFL posted the following: "If you turn the car off before opening the door, does it ding? I've found it dings if the door is open when you shut it off."

I tested it and he's right. That explains it.

I wasn't worried. Not a bit.

My car does the same thing occasionally. I have decided the reason is that I sometimes turn the car off before putting it in park, and it's telling me it's in gear. Honestly, by the time it starts chiming, it's too late to notice the order I do things in when I get out. If you intentionally turn the car off before putting it in park, though .... it will chime.

It will also chime if you open the door before turning it off. That's the one we discovered the other day.

I also found that it will ding if I open the door before turning it off.
