Dashcam suggestions, please.
If you get this dash cam, pay attention to how the OEM module comes off. The Fitcam goes on the same way. You need to transfer the orange clips from the OEM to the Fitcam. Then take the blue lens protector off the Fitcam. Sounds obvious, but I initially missed it. You need no tools except the plastic removal tool included in the kit.
In about a week I will post how well the camera works and how clear the video is. I will include photos to show.
From the video on the product page the guy got it down by hand. I tried pulling out on it a bit and it didn't budge, but I also don't see any obvious points to insert the plastic removal tool...Not sure if I just need to pull on it harder or i need to pry it in some way
Edit: NVM figured it out, pulled with two hands from the top at the same time did the trick. Was too afraid to break it initially...

Just saw your edit. Glad it worked.

The dashcam was shipped to me very well packaged, literally every inch of the shipping box was taped over. The box says it's designed for dealerships (4S shops), so it's probably one of the dealership gifts you can choose with a new car purchase, or sold as dealer accessory. The product box itself also contained plenty of protection, and does not feel cheap. And as expected we are paying a premium overseas, I found their Chinese product page on JD and they are selling it for ~$77 in China and it comes with installation. They literally have the product for every popular car model out there and got plenty of reviews.. that gave me a lot more confidence in that they are not some no name brand.
The installation in general is a lot more brute force than I expected, I was pretty scared at first since it was all hard plastic and I don't want to break something. But it's really just a lot of yanking and hard pulling and things will come off. I did not use the plastic trim removal tool at all, the key apparently is to just use two hands and always apply pressure evenly. The cables are designed very well and are foam protected. I did not understand why they had foams around the connectors until I tried to get the cover back on. It is TIGHT, and things will be squeezed against each other, that foam is definitely helpful. Tip here is to forget about tucking the wires until the main cover is back on. I tried for a long time to keep the wires neat while sliding the cover on, that did not work out very well.
It does look very OEM, and you easily forget that it's there. It's not that visible from the outside as well. There is a blue LED light that always flashes when it's recording, there is no way to turn it off in settings as far as I can tell. But it is hidden behind the mirror when I'm driving so all is well. The app is very easy to setup and use, just remember to turn off auto reconnect in your phone's wifi settings. I did not use the sandisk microsd that was included, because I noticed it was just a normal class 10 microSD. Instead I spent 10 bucks and purchased a Samsung pro endurance microSD that is designed for dashcam/bodycam use, and is meant to survive constant writes. After I took my short drive and realized how hot the microSD card gets, I think it was definitely a good call.
The camera stays recording for about a minute or two after car is shut off, basically the time for ACC to lose power. I turned parking mode off, although on their Chinese product page it does say parking mode is only for fuse box/OBD install anyways because those have constant power. I don't have any driving footage ready to share, I will post some next week. But I am happy to report that there is no gap or lags between each video files when it saves, and the video is pretty stable. But at 1080p, the resolution is really on the low side as expected, more to come on this when I get some driving footage in in different lighting conditions...
Anyways some pictures...
All the accessory in the box, wires, OBD connector if you choose to power it that way, trim removal tool, Sandisk microSD and a microSD USB reader.
How crowded it is back there after all the wires are in.
After snapping the cover back on, I couldn't tuck that last piece in quite right...oh well at least it's not visible from both driver and passenger side when mirror is in normal driving position

I am glad that you got your Fitcam installed. I believe you will be pleased with it. Do you know what the orange USB thumb drive is used for? I can download the recorded movies from the Fitcam wi-fi, or take the mini-SD card out and download the entire card to my computer.
The little blue light that blinks is fine. But at night it is visible on the passenger's lap. Although it is dim, it still bugged me. I put a small square of 3M black electrical tape over it.
Finally, despite being 1080p and not 4K, I believe the resolution is plenty adequate.

You mean the one in my picture that says MicroSD USB 2.0 on it? It's just a microSD to USB adapter, you insert the microSD into the slot on the end and plug it into your computer. It's for people without a SD card reader on their machine. It's only USB 2.0 so it's a bit slow, but I don't use it anyway since I got a microSD to SD adapter and that works much faster.
I haven't drove it at night yet to see how annoying the light is, but it's helpful when you paused the recording because you wanted to access something via the phone and forgot to restart it. The solid blue and blinking blue is a helpful indicator to see if it's actually recording.

There is warranty card inside the box, warranty is 1 year parts&labor, 2 year labor only. But I probably won't bother unless you want to ship it back to China...dashcam aren't really known to fail anyway so I'm not too worried.
But the microSD card is also easily accessible, it's just a slot on the passenger side. Pulling footage by removing the card and plug into your computer and formatting is probably faster than wifi.
