Anyone have any recommendations for a bluetooth carplay adapter that they’ve had no issues with.

 

I bought one on Amazon by Jemluse. I honestly just looked for a reasonably priced one with decent reviews. I wasn't picky. Have had not problems with it inthe 6 months I have been using it.

 

AAWireles 2+ is supposed to be released soon. If you are in no rush, i would recommend waiting for it.
You can do a google research about AAWireless and they are highly recommended.

 

We have an Ottocast in our 2019 ES 350 FSport. Works great.

 

I also have an Ottocast that I bought back in 2022 or 2023. Just installed it on the ES with a low profile USB cable posted here so I can keep the console closed. Working great so far.

Only issue I have is the wireless charger is crap. I have to take my slim case off my iphone and even then it eventually stops charging. Don't recall having this issue with the charger on the 2025 RX350 loaner I had, charged even with my case. Anyways will probably install a 12v USB adapter in armrest so I can keep it plugged in inside there for longer trips.

 

I agree with uselessinfodude re: Ottocast. I have had no problems with the Ottocast since installing in early 2023. There is a post for an Aliexpress 'flat wire' usb cord that will allow you to tuck it all out of sight in under the cover the front cover of the console, if you go that direction.

 

I saw that post for the flat wire USB connector on AliExpress and purchased it. Works like a charm.

MAMOSKO's 2020 USB slot post #7 has the link to the AliExpress web page as well as photos of the cable USB connector difference and how it fits with the 2019 through 2022 model year ES console configuration.

 

I had one once in the ES but it was very slow to connect. I like my music playing immediately. not 30-45 sec after. I dont know if things have changed since with the dongles. also the audio was notably worse than BT streaming, even.

so nice to not have to bother with dongles. music just starts playing from apple music the moment i open the door. i dont even have to wait!

 

The Ottocast is up and running by the time I think to look for music, podcasts, or audio books after starting the car. I don't recognize any latency when swiping through the Carplay screens and the music quality is perfectly fine for me (it uses a combination of Bluetooth and WIFI to operate). I'm seeing there is a $30 coupon off the $79 price on Amazon right now. Arguably, if one wants to explore wireless Carplay, it could be suggested that with multiple recommendations on CL, a price under $50, and the ability to return the device in 30 days without question there is no reason to not try the device.
