Android Auto music cuts out sometimes
I thought it could be my phone's cellular reception as OpenRadio needs internet connection.
So I have been listening to music that is on my phone, it does the same thing. It cuts out randomly for a second and continues (not a pause because I can see the Pause icon not changing to Play icon).
Have you had this issue before?
I use the same phone in another car and it doesn't have the same issue.

If not, you have the same issue by the looks of it.
Mine did this again twice.
You need to listen to the music for half an hour to reproduce.
Sometimes happens in 15 minutes.
What phone do you have?
It cuts out randomly. There is no way you can figure this out.
I will listen to the usual radio next time and see if it cuts that as well but I am pretty certain it is Android Auto specific.
Try going to the app on your phone and clearing the cache to see if that helps. Also make sure it's updated.
If you're using wired make sure you're using an OEM cable or a well known 3rd party cable, as I had issues with the connection dropping randomly using an unknown brand cable. I've since gotten a wireless adapter and haven't had any issues, other than losing connection by airports.
Doesn't do it on XM that I've noticed.
I used this cable on different cars with no issue.
What wireless adapter are you using?
I have heard horror stories about those wireless dongles as well.
Doing a quick googling, I can see this issue is reported by Toyota owners and no resolution has been proposed by either Google or Toyota/Lexus.

To preface...I've only had my ES for a couple of weeks.
I couldn't even figure out why my music/audio would drop for just a second or two every time I was leaving my house. Of course it was the home WIFI dropping and my phone switching over to the Verizon network.
I am just that hyper intelligent. And I ran a tech company in the San Francisco bay area for 15 years LOL.
That is story of my life being in the tech industry myself

I have eliminated my wifi/4G connection as I have local music on the phone and that too cuts out!
There is no pattern to it. It is totally random. Sometimes it takes a while like more than 30 minutes. Sometimes within 10 minutes.

Background: AndroidAuto mode is wired, to samsung phone.
- Connecting to Bluetooth wireless mode, using Spotify, does not have the intermittent pause/lag. So I'm eliminating Spotify as the main culprit.
Failed solutions:
- Problem remains using my son's Pixel7.
- Download the songs instead of pure streaming, no improvement
Am still trying to experiment with different solutions.
1. I disabled "hey google"/google assistant, seems to reduce but not eliminate the frequency of pauses/drop outs.
2. I switched the display to the basic navigation map, instead of the Android Auto one (where you can put google map and music info screen side by side), seems to work for my last ride of 30mins. I'll try again few more times. Regardless, this doesn't solve the problem if i need to use google map navigation instead of the built in nav....
Do update if you all have better solutions.. tks
The whole AA freezes for a split second.
I confimed this while I was driving, as the sound cuts out , Google Maps also freezes at the same time as the nav pointer representing the car stays where it is and it jumps as soon as the screen is unfrozen....
This is more evident if you are at highway speeds...
I tried reducing the resolution of AA to 1280x720.
Using the original Samsung cable.
Disabled Hey Google.
This is really disappointing in a luxury car.
The same phone/wire combo was used in a diffferent car and never had a single issue.

Do you have the mousepad or is yours completely touch screen?
