Default Dashboard lighting effect

On the the 2015 ES 350 a blue light illuminates on the dashboard, briefly, when you start the vehicle. It shines between the spaces occupied by the speedometer and the tachometer.
Does someone know how to turn this feature on permanently so that the beautiful blue light stays on full time?

The blue lighting that you are talking about is not intended to be an "effect". In the eco mode or normal mode, it lights up in blue to indicate that you are driving in a fuel efficient manner. In the sport mode it lights in red to indicate that you are driving using more power (and that you are driving in a less fuel efficient manner). As far as I know, the only way to get the blue to remain on (for a maximum amount of time) is to make an effort to drive in a way that minimizes fuel consumption as much as possible.

You can do it through the Carista app and by buying OBD2 device.

It has been over a year since the last time that I checked the "dealer only" custom settings via TechStream, and my memory could be failing me, but I think that, via those settings, you can disable the blue and red lighting entirely, but I don't think that you can set it so that it stays on permanently.

A little further explanation here is that the Carista app will permit one to adjust various features on your car by attaching an OBD unit to your diagnostic terminal. Features that you, as an owner, can't do without the attachment, but can be done by the dealer. You need to purchase the Carista unit and install the app on your smartphone. Apple or Android. I didn't know that the blue light could be turned on permanently but only as Les stated.

Do you recall which setting? I just looked and I'm not seeing it. Under "instruments / display / dings" there is an option for "Dash display mode," and it offers the choices of All or Undisp. Don't know if that is it, but the default is All. Just can't see an option that looks like it obviously applies to the OP's question.

actually you can do this without the Carista app and OBD2 device.

Access the settings in your vehicle by pressing and holding the DISP button, once you are in settings, navigate to i believe it is 7/9 and you will see an option to turn ON or OFF the Sport lamp. By putting it on OFF, it will not display the red lamp anymore.

Dave I think the OP was asking about the blue lamp.

But, what the OP wants to do is to have the blue lighting go on and stay on permanently and not just when your acceleration is done in a fuel efficient manner.

Adding to what I said in an earlier post, I don't notice, especially when I'm driving during the day, the blue lighting often, but, because of this thread, when I was driving about 75 miles today, I made a point of paying attention to and looking for the blue lighting. What I noticed is that it was on virtually 100% of the time, and that is because my driving style, at this point in my life, has become rather conservative. So, as I said earlier, if you want the blue light to stay on, driving in a fuel-efficient manner will do that because the purpose of the blue lighting is to be a reminder as to when you are driving in a fuel-efficient manner and when you are not driving in a fuel-efficient manner.

I can't find it, either, in the "dealer only" personalized settings. If it is there, I have to be looking in the wrong place.

Actually, the blue light does not go away when you accelerate if you accelerate slowly or moderately. It only goes away if you accelerate somewhat aggressively. Also, if you look at the information display between the speedometer and tachometer and have it set to view how mpg changes from moment to moment, the blue bar in that display only disappears if you are accelerating in a somewhat aggressive manner. Again, the purpose of the blue lighting is to let you now if you are driving (and accelerating) in a fuel-efficient manner or if you are not doing so.
