Default Anybody have a dash cover?

So my 2007’s original owners unfortunately never did the dash repair. When I got it a few months ago it had little tiny cracks more like scratches but nothing major. As I was wiping the dash over the drivers side hump I somehow put a tiny gouge as the material was so soft that my short thumb nail bit into the dash when the microfiber cloth got stuck on an extra sticky section of the dash. Fast forward a few weeks that tiny gouge is now a crack from side to side over the hump. It’s an 07 so I don’t expect Lexus to offer any kind of help and I really don’t want to spend $1,000 plus which I assume it’s what a dash will probably cost from Lexus. Has anyone installed one of the dash covers which I hate with a passion but unfortunately it might be my only option. I know there are people that repair dashes but I’m not going that route as unfortunately it seems my cars dash is entering its twighlight years and I foresee many cracks developing pretty soon.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...ng-dash-9.html post 124 shows a copy of the sticky dash warranty enhancement. maybe they have extended this further since then. I would ask Lexus anyway on the off chance.

Yeah I tried that already, I wasn’t offered the “We will cover the part, you cover the labor” which honestly was what I was hoping for. The previous owner didn’t do any of the bulletin work even though it was a certified vehicle after its initial lease phase. It also has the timing cover leak but I think it’s more of a seep than a leak. I can live with that one and understand how they wouldn’t notice a leak but the dashboard is in your face every time you get in the car. There’s no way this issue hasn’t been around for a long time.

We were able to further look into your dashboard concern and have verified your vehicle is beyond the parameters of the Warranty Enhancement Program for this concern. Primary coverage for this program expired on 05/31/2017 and Secondary coverage for your vehicle expired 10 years after the date of first use: 07/30/2017. Once the vehicle is outside of the program parameters, the cost of repairs becomes the owner’s responsibility.

We have also verified that two letters were sent to the previous owner. The interim letter for the dashboard Warranty Enhancement Program was sent on 01/23/2015. The remedy letter was sent on 07/08/2015.

We hope this provides clarity to your inquiry.

Meh not sure how I like this. First off there are little Velcro squares sewed onto the back but there’s no loop Velcro’s in my package. It definitely won’t stay in place even without the car moving without being adhered to the dash. Another concern is that when it starts heating up and my dash melts a bit this is going to get stuck big time into the dash. The fit isn’t perfect either just a little off. As I write this I’m pretty sure I’m going to return this. I don’t like dash mats but I was hoping this thing was a perfect fit which it isn’t. At the end of the day I hate the way my melting dash has transformed in a short time but I think I rather look at my ashy dash than this thing. I found a 2012 gray dash online for a decent price I’m hoping to find a black one but I might pull the trigger on they gray one since my dash now is essentially gray anyway and it isn’t that noticeable.

I agree... return it. Fit looks pretty bad, not to mention the cut-outs aren't even trimmed. I wouldn't run with it either... and I like dash covers! Too bad, is this what dash covers are like nowadays? <sigh>

Forgot... thanks for the photos!

No problem I love car forums I always try to contribute what I can. This isn’t a bottom of the price barrel cover either at $59. Looks allot more impressive on Amazon’s website.

You have to fit it on with a little Velcro on the corners although I drilled one in once to an old car I had . I have a dark black one that looks much nicer and that I would sell you for $30 since they recently fixed my 2010. It covers the corner speakers but somehow wound up improving the sound imho..
