12/28/17 update...check engine light came on again! Went to autozone to read codes, I had to borrow a new reader, their stock reader would not work...
Got the following codes...
P0368 Camshaft position sensor b circuit high input bank 1
C1201 1) Engine control system malfunction, 2)EV control system malfunction
Looks like I will need to replace the connector after all... rats!

1/3/18 update... replaced the VVT sensor connector end with new. soldered wires together and shrink tubing sealed... Double checked the wiring order and made double sure of all things I disconnected. 2 days later she gets check engine light again, and engine is noticeably rough running at idle ! Dang.
P0171 too lean a/f bank 1
p0300 random multiple cylinder misfire detected
p0174 too lean a/f bank 2
p0368 camshaft position sensor b circuit high input bank 1
I am at a loss for what is causing problem... I am very confident in the repair. Could the VVT sensor be going bad? Its $120 at autozone... I hate to throw money at problem without being sure of problem... not sure if those sensors can be tested?
Help

i think a quick session with the dealers techstream would pinpoint problem. Some info here on how to check sensor/harness if you want to get fancy

Thanks again nevernu! If I read these right it's a fairly simple voltage and resistance check of the wiring, and an end to end test using the check engine(?) Light on the dash by turning on instrument panel with vvt sensor disconnected...I think I can do that if I understand correctly...

OMG...so embarrassed! I found another vacuum line disconnected...I did not intentionally disconnect it but it must have pulled loose when I was removing the intake manifold...well car runs smooth out of idle again but fault has not cleared (check vsc still illuminated)...If the wiring problem is solved will the fault clear by itself or do I need to clear it manually with an odb?

It will cleat itself after a couple of days
