Trunk lid misaligned
I have a 2007 es350. I hauled a bike in the trunk yesterday, obviously with the trunk lid firmly tied down. Went over a speed bump, I thought slow enough, but there was a thump from the back. Later that day I noticed the passenger side was up around 1/4" at the upper edge close to the rear window. Checked with a hose and it leaks.
Is there any way to realign it? Does anyone have diagram of rear trunk lid and mechanism.
Thanks in advance!

Pictures please?
I'm thinking you bent the lid but a good way to tell if it shifted is to remove the lining on the lid and you should be able to see bare metal where the hinges are bolted to the lid if it shifted. If this is the case loosen the bolts and realign to the paint so no bear metal is showing and slowly close the lid to see if that fixes the problem. If you have a gap on one side when it's closed and it sits higher then the fender it's probably bent unfortunantly. Hope this helps and works for you.

Thanks for the reply. Checked around the bolts and they looked as if they never moved - no bare metal. Would submit a picture but I am new to site and haven't figured out how to.
Hopefully this can be fixed without replacing the trunk lid.
Thanks Again

Thanks for the diagrams. Definitely helps me visualize how the trunk lid can be adjusted. Do you think I could just loosen the hinge on the side that is high to lower it around 1/8 to 1/4 inch?
Again, that's for the info.

My real issue is to prevent water entering the trunk area. I am not real **** about gaps! I considered building the top of the trunk gasket up with Gorilla Tape applied to the rim of the trunk lid which contacts the gasket.

I would think a properly adjusted trunk would prevent leaks. What's the problem with adjusting/replacing a few bolts?

Five thumbs, no fingers! Seriously, I am not that mechanically inclined but willing to tackle some projects. Do you have any parts diagrams illustrating the items to be removed/replaced in the instructions? Sorry to be so dense, but.....
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Not seeing a picture but based on what happened you have bent something . You may or may not be able to adjust out the problem . I would take it to a repair shop and see what they say. If all of the bolts are tight then readjusting them will not fix the problem.

Problem solved. Must not have been bent that bad-just grabbed the high corner and pulled down. Back to acceptable tolerances. Regarding comment that duct tape has no place on a Lexus, I agree-do not want to give duct tape a bad name.
Seriously, I have owned this 2007 ES 350 since brand new. My opinion after 6+ years is that it is an over-hyped, over priced Camry. My 2001 Olds Aurora (V8) was a much better driving experience.
