Wiper Blade winter/summer mode
Hi all,
I have a 07 ES 350. Several days ago, I went to auto car wash without turning off the auto wiper blade. When I came out, I saw the wiper blades were higher than before. Then I loosen the nuts, and put them a little lower trying to make them back to original position.
But now I realized that it does have Summer/Winter mode.
Is there any way to make sure which mode is it now?
Should I pull down the blade after starting the engine, or before?
Thanks a lot for any help.

But when I pulled the wiper blades down, they couldn't go any further than high position.
Any thing I'm wrong with it?

It takes a bit of force but it goes into the position. To me that's what seemed kind of scary the first time. I was sure I'd break it.

since u adjusted them i now would turn the car on and move the blades to mid position and turn car off. from there u can try to move it up or down manually and see what they are set to, and readjust from there.

Lot's of threads written about this. Here's just a couple:

It's not really a summer/winter thing. It's there to allow you to pull the wipers up from the windshield base when washing the vehicle. If the wipers are in the lower position, they can't be pulled away from the windshield.
And just a word of advice to the OP, never mess with something unless you know exactly what your doing and have thought it through. In your case, since the wipers were in position before you went to the car wash, why would they have moved from that position? The car wash knew about the 2 positions, and moved them up to wash the windshield. how could you have reasoned that the nuts somehow came loose and the wiper blades got moved and then tightened themselves down again? And, shame on the car wash for not repositioning the wipers down to the correct position. But, yup, over the years, I've learned this lesson through making the same type of mistakes.

The winter setting is good for owners in cold climates where they get a lot of snow and ice. The up position prevents the blades from getting frozen/stuck in place from ice and snow build up.

And also puts the blade surface on the glass that's directly over the defroster vents

Thanks for this thread! I bought my used 2007 ES350 3 weeks back and I thought the wipers were a bit high. Now they are back to normal. Missed that one when perusing the manual.
