So, to make a long story short, I've decided to buy a 2009 Lexus ES350. I've been car shopping for months, and I really like the reliability and comfort of the Lexus ES350. Also, I'm about 6'3" and it has the leg room I'm looking for as well.

I have my eyes on a white one with cashmere interior. From an image standpoint, is it true that only old people drive this car? I am 32 years old and have noticed it is not a very sporty car, but that isn't what I'm interested in anyways. I want reliability and comfort, but I have noticed that a lot of old people drives the ES350(which isn't a bad thing).

Am I making a mistake buying this car? At least it isn't like I'm buying a Buick or Cadillac right?

It's pretty much like you're buying a buick Get yourself an IS or even GS. Here in Florida ES is for people between 70-125 years old.

 

I don't think you're making a mistake, the ES is awesome! Recently, when I was inquiring at our local Lexus dealer about what they had in stock as far as '13 ES, the salesman told me that one of the ones they had was starfire/cashmere, but that "that color scheme is too old for you", meaning that old people generally get that color scheme. :-)

 

Yes, the ES is favored by an older crowd, no doubt about it. When this gen launched in April/May 2006 the average age of new ES buyers was approaching 70. So your observations are correct. It seems like pre-owned buyers are a little younger

On the other hand if this isn't important to you, go for it. It's a comfortable and reliable car - That's why so many are sold. Personally I like the white/tan combination (I had a 2010 in this color).

I can't fit in the IS series Lexus. It is way too small. I feel like I'm riding in a 2 door sports car. Also, I test drove the GS and didn't like the seats(too firm). Also, I've heard reliability for the GS isn't as good.

@mspearl95 - What color seat do you recommend? I don't think I want black b/c of the Texas heat. I like the grey but it is hard to find. Most of the ones with white exterior have that tan interior color.

 

hotshot, have you considered a 2010?

2010 was the mid-cycle refresh that added numerous interior and exterior styling updates and a couple of electronic enhancements.

 

That is good to know. I think the 2010 is out of my price range. Looking close to $30k or so for a 2010 versus $21k-26k for a 2009/2008.

and also i had a lincolne Continental when i was 16 i know different cars but still people said that was a grandpa car back in those days lol

I'm in central Texas with a black/black 07. The AC has no problems with the heat. And the black interiors wear better than the gray and much better the tan.

i wanted something comfortable to drive/reliable since i work around 16 hours a day and its an amazing car for that purpose... my next car though would most probably be an infiniti fx55

 

so does the tan wear the quickest? I'm currently trying to decide between getting a black interior and a ivory/cashmere one. any info would be much appreciate! :-)
