07 ES350 Check engine and battery light stays on in IG-ON mode
Hi,
I recently purchased a used 07 ES350 with about 30K miles.
(non CPO - from toyota dealer)
I noticed that the check engine light and the battery light stay
on in the IG-ON mode even after the rest of the panel lights go off.
I do not think this is normal. Is it ? Any idea what the issue could be ?
The lights do go off when the engine is started.
The car still has 7 months of warranty left and would it be wise to check it
out at the dealer ?
Thanks in advance !!

If you have a warranty - take it to the dealer! The CEL throws a code that will tell the dealer what the cause is. Unless this is the result of the car being in a collision or something that isn't considered a manufacture defect, it should be covered.
Was this symptom there when you got the car?

I called the dealer about this and he claims it is normal for the lights
to stay lit in the IG-ON mode.
He said the lights coming on when the engine is running is a cause for concern/check.
Can someone check on their 07 lexus and post back ? Tks !
With foot off the brake, push the start stop button.
First press -> ACC ON
Second press -> IG-ON
to stay lit in the IG-ON mode.

My car isn't here right now but I believe your dealer is right. I didn't understand from your original post that you were pushing the button to get the lights to come on.

The condition is normal. If you switch the ignition to "on" but do not start the engine, then the alternator is not spinning and thus is not charging the battery; hence the "battery" warning light being on. Similarly, since the engine is not running, various criteria a properly running engine would normally meet are not being met; hence the CEL light being on.

Thanks all.
BTW, the following statement on pg 108 of the users manual is what
tripped me.
"These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned on to the IG-ON mode
to indicate a system check. They will turn off after the engine is started or
after a few seconds. There may be a malfunction if the lights do not come
on or if they do not turn off"
