Default check engine light on....

My flip out headunit won't open so I disconnected the battery. Now the headunit comes out but the check engine light is on.

Now the gauges (gas, speedometer, rpm) stop working and it doesn't light up. I can still drive the car but all the gauges do not work and the headlights do not turn on.

I have an appointment at dealer that is 50 miles away on Tuesday, and I really need my car, should I just take to the Toyota dealer that is in town that is willing to do a diagnosis today... or should I just wait for my apppointment?

Any solutions?

Few options here:

1. I would check your manual. You may have blown a fuse somewhere.

2. You might want to disconnect the battery for say 10-15 minutes.
That may reset the Check Engine light.

3. You can take it to like AutoZone and they will diagnose it for free. They will tell you the error code and then you can call the Dealership and see how much you are going to be hit with if its a serious problem. As opposed to going to the dealership and getting smacked for the 100 dollar charge they hit you with to diagnose the vehicle.

I have seen a few instances where that has happened after the battery was replaced. The fix we had was pull off oth terminals and wait I think a half hour, then reconnect. Hope that helps.
