Angry Dash Rattle

My ES started to have a rattle on dash. If I press the area above the AC vents, you can hear the annoying sound back and forth. Does anyone have this problem? Guess I have to pay a visit to my dealership.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it's just a minor quick fix. The dealership should be able to take care of it.

Of course everything has gone wrong with my car. Yep, had to take it in for rattles in the dash when it was new. They pulled the NAV system and out got in there and aligned it with felt. They also had to do the same for the front right door panel. Tell your dealer to align it with felt, that has been the fix for many on this forum.

Is it a rattle like something loose or is it a ticking cracking noise? Mine had the later and it did not do it all the time. It seemed somewhat temperature dependent. I took it in and they did this TSIB on it:

NV005-06: Upper and or Lower Windshield Ticking Noise

It fixed the problem for me.

Thanks for that! My car has the crack that you mentioned, especially when I turn into the driveway, or any other turn where the car would flex (on a hill, etc). The dash rattles are different, though. But, thanks!! I'll put that on my laundry list to fix.

I had the exact same rattle you have described.

I took it to the dealer and the took off the dashboard and inserted additional foam around the A/C vents.

I have not heard the noise since and it's going on 6 months.

The dealer seemed to know what I was taking about when I was describing the problem. Took them all day to fix so I got a loaner.

Yup, there's a TSB on it. There are illustrations showing them how to fix it. Pretty detailed and somewhat extensive (not surprised you got a loaner) so it's a known problem. Well, if they've seen the TSB before. The Toyota website storing all that stuff seriously sucks. I can imagine a not so internet/computer savvy tech not being able to find a requested TSB.

Is it more towards the top, near the center speaker? I can actually take my fist and hit the dash and it will rattle. Sounds like marbles in there.
