Question 2007 ES350 V6 - P0333 appearing after replacing alternator

I recently replaced the OEM alternator in my 2007 ES350 V6 with a Denso reman from Rockauto. The alternator works well enough but the VSC/traction control lights appeared I was burping the radiator coolant. OBD-II tool confirms that this is a P0333 code (Knock Sensor 2 Circuit High Input (Bank 2)). While the code is active, I can hear an audible hissing sound coming from the engine bay. I also notice a loud "bump" sound coming from the back of the car every 15 seconds or so when driving with this code active. Both symptoms disappear when clearing this code but of course reappear when the CEL comes back up.

This code tends to appear after the car has sat overnight and usually appears within the first 3 minutes of a cold start. It does not seem to appear mid-way through a drive. I'm still using the same fuel grade as I was before. At first I thought maybe it was because I forgot to reattach a splash panel or something which may have triggered the piezo to read funny. But even with all the panels reattached, I'm still getting it.

Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? If I need to replace or test the knock sensor, does anyone know where it is?

Check all the wiring from the sensor which is located under the manifold between the banks.

Oh man. I've never went this far back before. So take off the plenum, manifold, and that whole assembly? Are there any wires and connectors I could check before going that deep?

I don’t think so but let me check the wire routing for the knock sensor, I will post them all.

Thanks. Any sort of visual would be incredible to have! I managed to find diagrams where the manifold is removed to physically replace the knock sensor but if there's any wire harness checks I can do before digging into all that I'd like to do try that first.

Please read the attached document, especially the part that describes the problem with P0333.

Here you can see the wiring colours from the ECU:

You should check the wiring from BV1 to the sensor. The colours are red and green.

If you need more info, please let me know.

Much appreciated. I'll give the trouble shooting steps in the pdf a try and report back. Thankfully it looks like I can get to these harnesses without opening anything major up.
