I'm about to replace the knock sensor on the car, but befor that. I want to know if there is a possibility that it could be my alternator wires. When I changed my alternator. The plug in the back broke inside the alternator, so I got a universal plug from an alternator shop and used butt connectors to connect to where I snipped the old plugs wires. It was raining hard last night and I'm thinking something prolly came loose or shorted out, if its the wires I think I'm going to solder them this time instead of butt connectors and heat shrinks.

I'm not sure if it was running in limp but when I was pressing the gas it seemed like the car was in snow mode but a little slower and that's when the check engine light came on.

Update: I drove the car to the store and the check engine light went away and the car drove fine like the problem never happend.. Knock sensor then? Or wires?

 

Isn't there 2 knock sensors? How come its not telling me witch bank it's on?

 

Yea there's two, I'd def. Check those wires first, I have no idea what kind of job you may have done so solder those up and shrink wrap them for sure, check your battery, and try again. If no luck, remove each knock sensor, check that there is NO continuity between it's terminal and it's body. If it does have continuity, sensors toast.

 

Limp mode went away huh? Could be a voltage issue man, or like you said, connection... Do what you said you were going to do first

 

Thanks guys. Before I go and rip the alternator out again. Does anyone know why I have only 1 code P0325 and why its not telling me witch knock sensor it is thats faulty? Or is it saying that both are toast? Should I fallow the starter DIY to get tot the sensors? And I drove my car to work today did I damage my engine? There was no check engine light and the car ran fine

 

Code P0325 is described in the service manual as "knock sensor 1 circuit malfunction (bank 1)". So yes, it is telling you that circuit 1 is faulty. Knock sensors are simple and robust with no moving parts. Before you condemn the sensor, check its plug, connector and wiring back to the ECM. If the wiring and plug seem to be ok, swap sensor 1 with sensor 2. If you get the DTC for circuit 2 (P0330), then yes, the faulty knock sensor has been moved to bank 2. If you still get P0325, the problem is in the wiring or plug.
