2018 ES350
Why is my car's trunk always open to everyone even if the car doors are locked ?
Is there a way to leave the car unlocked and still have the trunk be locked when the car is left parked.
got it. So are you really looking to have the trunk be locked when parked with the car unlocked and no key is present? Someone can just open the car door and pop the trunk? Are you looking for a valet switch?
on the other thread, Isn’t the linked thread in the right generation ES forum? I don’t think things would have changed since that thread was active
I am not going to try it tonight or dig out my manual but my '17 ES 350 has a switch on the left side of the glove box, with the door open, that has some kind of control for locking the trunk. I was told about the switch on this forum when I bought my 2013 ES 350.
Ya, that’s the valet button…prevents the trunk from being opened by any other means than the manual “key”. OP’s issue is that the trunk can be opened whether the car is locked or not. Press the valet button, remove the manual key from th FOB, lock the glove box with the manual key, put the manual key in your pocket and leave the FOB with the valet. Nobody can get into the glove box or the trunk except the person with the manual key.
