Hi all. So I have a weird issue with my XM radio app on my phone. It stopped playing via Bluetooth in my ES 350 (2016 Luxury). It used to work fine. Other music sources, no issues. I do not have xm on the car radio, it’s my wife’s account on the phone. I sure hope this isn’t a blocking thing - SiriusXM is just greedy enough to do that!

 

If you can play other BT audio sources through your ES, it's an issue with your phone. Do you see the progress bar moving in the app? I just tested it and it still works for me.

 

I may reinstall the app. I restarted phone but that didn’t help. Thanks.

 

So can I have xm subscription on my rx and then use the iPhone app from xm and play on my wife’s es, saving a second subscription?? Thanks

 

I am having the same issue with my XM phone app today (The XM in my Lexus works fine but I use the app when bicycling.) I got on the chat with SiriusXM and they say they are having problems with the app right now on my device which is a Nokia running Android 10 and are working on it.

 

Yes, I'm not sure if there's an extra cost anymore. It was $2.99/mo extra for the streaming option when I first signed up. That was a long time ago and I think they may have plans that now include it. The XM sound quality in my ML equipped ES was so bad with the vehicle app, it was a no brainer to cancel the car's subscription and just use the phone app when I want to listen to XM in the car. The streaming sound quality is way better than satellite. The difference is night and day, at least on a quality system like the ML. I pay the yearly fee for my wife's CX-5 and the Blose system in that is fine, since the bar is so low to begin with.

 

Another update - it turns out my 12 month subscription that included streaming ended a few days ago and their default rate and plan that they dump you into doesn't include it. When I got their service person on the phone and negotiated a new rate for the upcoming year including streaming my app suddenly started working again. You might want to get on their chat line and see if that is your issue too. Also FWIW they will give you a MUCH better rate when you get on the line with them - I was able to get all access (all channels in my Lexus plus streaming via app) plus service in my wife's car for less than half of their "standard rate".

I hate that they make you play games like this every year. Apparently they have taken lessons from the cable company, which pulls the same BS..
