Default Issues with XM on 2015

Has anyone else with a 2015 had issues with XM radio or their weather and traffic?

I'm in my 3 month free trial, but I will be continuing with XM once the trial ends. I'm getting radio and all stations fine, but neither my traffic nor weather through XM will work. It tells you "No data" when you select either option.

Both my salesman and myself have spent hours on the phone with XM techs. They have resent my signals, restarted my trial, etc and nothing has fixed it.

Then I had one tech tell me that it may be the fact that their software isn't working with the 2015 modules. Say what? And now my salesman has been on the phone with them again today and they told him I might have a bad module.

Has anyone else dealt with an issue like this with XM? How as it resolved? Did you have to have a new module installed? I'm doubting that this is a 2015 issue and feeling that it is more likely just a bad module. What a pain in the butt.

Your traffic and weather come through HD Radio, not XM. You need to make sure you are in an HD Radio coverage zone.

Oh. Well in that case.

My dealership seems convinced that it is still through XM. But I just found this link: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...m-traffic.html

I'm in an HD coverage zone. Any ideas why weather and traffic wouldn't work? or does it need to be started up? I can't believe my dealership doesnt know this.

Thanks for your help!

Your traffic and weather is definitely through HD radio. Have you downloaded and used the Lexus Enform App and connected the app with the car (using Pandora, iHeart radio and such)? It will use the app as a backup when no HD signal is available. You could try pulling a battery cable for a few minutes and resetting the system.

I just downloaded Lexus Enform today and supposedly linked it to Pandora. I haven't been able to check yet.

The weird thing is that HD radio stations were working fine, so I would think that should mean I have coverage. I will read the manual tonight to see if there is anything I missed and try to get the weather and traffic to work.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction guys - at least we wont be wasting more time dealing with XM.

Let us know how it turns out. I can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't be working for you.

I have noticed in the past when I wasn't able to pull up the weather map that the Enform app had disconnected from the car for some reason and I needed to hit the "connect to vehicle" button within the app.

Before you start your car next time, check that Enform is connected.

EDIT: The below information is incorrect. See post #13 below for the correction.

There was change for 2015 when it comes to the traffic and weather data.

2014 uses HD radio for primary and the Lexus app suite as the backup

2015 uses XM radio for primary and the Lexus app suite as the backup

I have a '14 and can rarely get the dopper radar map to download unless I have my iPhone connected with the Lexus app suite running in the background (meaning it uses the backup most of the time). I live near a major city and get the HD signal no problem but for some reason the data still prefers to use the backup. Perhaps this is why they made the change to XM for the '15 model year.

We disconnected the battery for awhile and now it works fine. It does take a few minutes to load up after the car starts, but I assume that is normal and reasonable.

ETA: the 2015 brochure online says Traffic and weather updates via HD Radio
http://www.lexus.com/documents/broch...S-Brochure.pdf

I'm so confused. haha.

Where did you see that? The 2015 Press Release still shows it as coming through HD, not XM.

Lexus Display Audio
 HD Radio™ (complimentary traffic and weather)
Hybrid Data Service
 Traffic and Weather data provided via HD Radio (free to all users while in HD Radio range)

Go to lexus.com/enform

Click on the "Other Services" tab

On that page the first sentence ends with a link allowing you to view the provider chart. This chart shows the differences between the 2014 and 2015 models in what data comes through HD and what comes through XM.

That chart shows that the 2015 IS still gets traffic and weather from HD Radio (just like the '14), with the exception of the IS C, which still gets it on XM.

After reviewing it again more carefully I have to admit that I stand corrected.

It took me a few minutes too. The "IS C" in the XM column made it confusing.

Exactly! That's what tripped me up too and I was in a rush. I apologize for any confusion I caused you and others who read my incorrect post above.
