Smile Pet Peeves

Ok, I admit, nothing better to do today with the lockdown and rainy weather. So here are a couple pet peeves I have with my 2018 ES350. What are yours?

1. No standard remote start (requires $8 per month App). Every other car I have or have had in the last 10 years has remote start on the FOB. Argh.

2. No auto door lock when you exit the vehicle.

Default My peeves

I agree with your #1. I also have a 2018 ES 350 purchased new and its a luxury car so why no remote start? Nickel and dime me for features lesser cars have.

i wish I could change the dash display to show MPG and distance to empty together. Choices are MPG or distance to empty with average speed. I don’t care about average speed.

It’s impossible to set the analog clock and the digital clock in the gauge cluster to match perfectly in time! Super annoying.

#1 The dash info display. Lots of info, display it all so I don't have to scroll through pieces and parts.
#2 The slow response of the media. I click and it should go POOF and display the next screen; clicking down a few times is slow too. Yes, I want instant-ness...and it could be done, not like playing a game where you need 60 FPS.

My son's $30,000.00 2020 Mazda CX-30 comes with free remote start and folding mirrors. Both should be included on all Lexus cars... And how about a sun glass compartment??

The hybrid version only displays the tach in sport mode. Having to reset the audio too often. The bolster on the black leather looks pretty cheap and dated. Auto start not enabled on my 13. For Lexus in general, too many models that require premium fuel. That keeps me locked in the ES.

Really so many positives on this generation though that far outweigh these things though!

There is a setting to enable tach in NORMAL mode. Plus you can get a $20 gizmo that would project RPM and digital speed on the windshield at all times.

Agree with #2. I previously had a Buick Regal Tour X and that had auto lock. I am so use to getting out and it auto locks. It is taking time for me to remember to lock the car.

Oh nice! Does it require a dealer to change the tach setting? And do you have a link for the HUD?

Every new 2019 car come with a REMOTE START...you just press a bottom and react quick....I dunno why Lexus wants us to pay 8$ and press and hold the KEY for LONG Seconds... ALSO

WHY THE TRUNK CANNOT CLOSE BY KEY??? Got to Press the Bottom...Make NO Sense to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And YES, even my 2017 Prius can set up a door auto lock.

just got my girlfriend into a 2019 mazda 6 signature series for the same price and that car has nappa leather seating with front seats that feel amazing and really bolster and hug your body. Not to mention the rear seats are heated and the folding mirrors just add a touch of elegance. I was blown away by it to be honest. Very nice vehicle.

Default .

For me it’s mainly the infotainment/nav system. If they won’t do CarPlay or similar I’d rather they just gave up and put in a ‘use your phone’ one step button. Oh yeah, and response is so slow on the system also! Molasses speed.

You can change the setting so that the tech appears in normal mode as well in the hybrid.

The one I got is no longer available. But there are many similar ones - just search for "obd2 hud" on ebay or aliexpress.or amazon.
