I've seen prices between $500. and $700.00 thru the dealer. Then you pay a monthly fee to use it... An aftermarket setup runs about $300.00 and NO monthly fee...Pay once and done.

Thanks for the reply. So if I get them to install it, I have to pay per month to have the basic remote start or there is no such thing? I did buy a OEM Lexus rm start for LexWorld online for $166.

To the best of my knowledge, there is a charge of $80.00 per year to maintain the RS system. I'm not sure which RS system you bought so best to check with the SM at the dealer. If you buy a new Lexus today you have to pay the fee after one year free. Sounds like you got a good deal if it's OEM... Report back and let us know how you make out.

GOOD LUCK!

The early years for the Generation 6 ES used either the RS or RS+ systems.

For the basic RS system, which worked only with key fob, there was no monthly charge. For the RS+ system, which worked with either the key fob or a smart phone app, the key fob remote start worked without a subscription, but there was an $80/year subscription required to use it with the phone app.

For the more recent Enform Remote start, a subscription is required to use the system either with the key fob or with the smart phone app. For the ES, that subscription cost has been $160/year.

I did check with an audio guy in my area and he originally said $200-$300 and asked me if it installed behind the glove box. I found a video of a guy installing one online on my year and model lex he was installing underneath the steering column.

I just sent these clips to the audio guy in my area and he replied back he would not do it, only his remote start. I guess to have it done right I will get Lex to do it.

BTW, is it the Enform service?

I find the whole thing very confusing. You explained it clearly. Thanks Les...

WHOA! You were right on the Money! $750 and I'll have to find out about any other fees. Geez! Need to research any other audio experts in the area. My Goodness!

You do have other options. Shortly after I purchased my new 2013 I also wanted the RS system. However, I was reluctant to donate $700.00 to Toyota to install one. I obtained an aftermarket unit by Audiovox with all the features of the OEM unit. I did not get starting by smartphone as I didn't need it. The range, poor on the OEM, was about twice that of the Lexus RS system and it cost me $300.00. It's now 6 years later and still works perfectly. Took one day to install locally here near Philadelphia. And, TA-DA, no monthly or yearly fees...

GOOD LUCK with whatever you decide.

You can buy the 13'-14' OEM remote start for about $60 online. Its really easy to install and it took me about an hour to do it. Yes the OEM range is horrible, but I wanted an installation that was plug and play. The 13'-14' remote start does not need a fee to maintain and will only work with the factory fob at the same range. Engine will cut off after 10 minutes or if any door is opened once car is started.

33140 is for RES+. That requires a subscription. Why would you want that?
