Question ES300 Gold Emblems

Have anyone replaced their chrome ES300 emblems with Gold? I am looking to replace mines and I'm curious as to, is it better to have the chrome emblems gold plated or purchase the gold emblems from the dealership? How much does something like this cost and how do I remove the old emblems?

Any information is greatly appreciated...

Thanks

I've never replaced emblems on my own, but I can offer you some helpful info. Choosing between DIYing your own emblems and purchasing a new set depends on two things: 1) how much you're willing to spend and 2) the overall appearance. The dealership price for a gold emblem set can run about $227 (listed from lexus-parts). Though I don't know what's the proper procedure to gold-plate the existing chrome emblems, I've seen a black pearl conversion successfully done on my friend's LS. Don't forget the clearcoat finish on the emblems if you choose the DIY approach.

As attempted by many CL members, dental floss is the easiest way to remove the emblems. Hope this info helps.

Emblem sets go for around $400 for a full set(incl wheel caps) at St. Louis Lexus dealers.
